Alphonso Davies

I'd love him. We've done well with the four CB system, but I feel it makes us too predictable and one-dimensional at times. We miss being able to bring on a Cancelo or even Zinchenko, who can make things happen from the full back position.

Zinchenko? Really, even Arsenal fans have found him out. Always caught at the scene of every accident.

I wonder if Vinny goes there if we can actually deal with Munich now, he may want a player or two of ours and arrangement between the two clubs could happen?
This is a fascinating concept. I doubt The Attack Department would allow it, however. OTOH, Kimmich and Davies are entering the final seasons of their Bayern contracts. It appears that Real won't spend to bring him to Madrid now, so if we want him, there may be a clear opening for us. I think there are legitimate questions about his defending (and maybe first touch, also), but after all, we went for Cancelo, who is a one-way player who was regularly skinned by skillful wingers.

As someone who offers a different attacking threat, yeah. Didn't say he was a great defender, just that he was useful if you wanted someone to go on the outside of the winger and give opponents something to think about.

Great lad to have around the squad putting out the cones , having in your football tennis side and playing the occasional game.

Seems nice lad, not even close to being a wingback or a fullback. Only thing he was ok at was as a supplimentary midfielder when we had the ball. He also wasn’t good enough to start as a genuine midfielder against most Premier League teams as he couldn’t be trusted, he had a propensity to cock up under pressure.

I assume this is a total non-starter? He wants Madrid, doesn’t he?

He can’t defend either.
He does want Madrid, but they do not want to spend on him, a year in the reserves is a long time to wait, especially as there is always someone else coming through, Madrid may well buy someone else. As for his defending, it is as good or better than Gvardiol, and he can play left or right winger, when Walker quits we will have one of the slowest defenses in the league, add to that every team in the league for the last two years at least, rightly or wrongly, has identified our left side as our weak point, a lot have been proved right.

I don’t see him as anywhere near Gvardiol as a defender.

It’s all pretty moot as he’s off to Madrid on a free.

Sorry, what?

Alphonso Davies? As good as, if not better defensively than Josko Gvardiol?

Are you serious? One's a winger, the other's a centre back.

Davies is a good player but Gvardiol is the much better fit in our current setup. And as it has been mentioned he has no intention in joining City and he is all set for Real Madrid.
