Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Some interesting details regarding Holt Town in this document (not sure if already posted) ...

Looks like the gas tower land on the other side of the railway line is designated mainly for housing, including high rise buildings. No sign of any of those tunnels being brought into use though.

Thanks.

Oh! An opportunity for a landmark building in the centre of the park. *

Towers up to 35 storeys.

Multi-use mobility hub like the one currently under construction in Ancoats.

If you look at 2, by documents found in planning it's going to be a car park similar to the one in Poland Street , its makes sence to have a multi storey car park there right next to the hotel , two minute walk

Sort of, bar being far too close together.

Yes, 2 definitely looks like a car park, as you say, which would cater for the stadium, the hotel, and the buildings behind the car park, whatever their uses are going to be?

I know these are only illustrative, but I never thought I'd see the day where there were multiple 15+ storey developments along Bradford Rd.
I still can't get my head around Ancoats Basin and Platting Village. These areas have come a long way since the 70s & 80s.

I can see ADUG bring involved in Holt Town in some capacity.

Place North West.

Manchester City Council is developing a 10-year plan for the regeneration of, and investment in, 74 acres of post-industrial wasteland.

This covers the potential for 4,500 homes including significant levels of affordable housing, commercial space which could attract 1,500 jobs, and the creation of 91 acres of public realm and green space

Should councillors approve going out to consultation with the framework at the executive committee meeting next Wednesday, 24 July, it would likely start later this summer for six weeks.

I thought Sheikh Mansour was already heavily involved in this via his Manchester Life Partnership.

Interesting flight shows how Manchester has grown

Thanks for that. It's amaing to see to see how much the city has changed from the 70s and 80s. Most of the development has been postive. Manchester is a model for urban regeneration. The only real blot on the landscape is Pic Gardens and that could be sorted with a few water cannons!

You also forgot to mention the other 'blot on the landscape' which is the shithole (also referred to as old trafford) but I suppose you could argue that it isn't located in Manchester so it doesn't count.

Slightly off topic.

Another Mubility Hub is proposed as part of the Holt Town Master Plan.

I wouldn’t be surprised if one was also planned for or close to the Collar site on the Etihad Campus.

North West Construction Hub - Linkedin

Yesterday, the North West Construction Hub team enjoyed a site visit to Ancoats Mobility Hub, an exciting new £24m project being delivered by Bowmer and Kirkland Ltd .

The innovative scheme is a cornerstone for future development plans in Ancoats, and features:

•Over 400 square meters of green wall.

•150 secure bike parking spaces, complete with changing facilities and lockers.

•406 car parking spaces for residents and visitors, with 102 electric vehicle charging points.

•Up to 30 spaces dedicated to car club/ car share schemes.

•A parcel delivery hub.

•Over 400 rooftop solar panels.

• A new commercial unit, and space for a cafe overlooking Ancoats Green.

•1370 square meters of public realm work, seamlessly connecting Ancoats Green.

The project looked fantastic. The green wall is a great example of how we can integrate nature into our built environment to deliver sustainable, forward-thinking urban development. Kudos to the B&K team for bringing this project to life!

Wow that’s an impressive planting design. Not seen one like that on a NW building before. Kudos to the architect/designer, it’s really good with the glass splitting it from top to bottom.

BAM plans job cuts after Co-op Live troubles

The contractor’s UK and Ireland division fell to a near £20m loss in the first half of 2024 due to issues related to the Manchester arena project.

BAM UK signed a £253m deal to build Oak View Group’s 23,500-capacity venue in 2021 – the division’s largest ever contract – but costs soared amid “project delays and supply chain issues”, according to BAM.

BAM UK’s construction division recorded an adjusted EBITDA of -£19.8m (€23.6m) for the first six months of the year owing to its troubles on the Co-op Live job.
