Big story in The Grauniad about Chelsea Jim building a New Swamp with a capacity of 100,000. I'm getting the impression that this is all about him, his huge ego and his legacy.
In the meantime the building work continues at The Etihad...
Scruffy Jim still saying they can't afford it without outside help and looney loops Starmer saying the government would be willing to invest in updating public transport links to the swamp. There are towns in GM with greater need of better transport links, yet this bell end thinks our tax money should go to helping out tax exiles and dodgy North American billionaires.

Why the fuck can’t people reply to scruffy Jim with candour. If you want it then build it & pay for it yourself, you’ll never run out of money. The government is in debt to billionaires like Scruffy Jim, it’s time the cunts with the money pick up the tab instead of passing it on to ordinary tax payers.

It seems he may be doubtful they could raise enough money on stadium naming rights and they have huge debts that I assume would rise to catastrophic levels if they had to fund even part of it themselves.
Let's hope they are still selling a pipe dream to the rag fan base twenty years from now.

Don’t turn Sly Sports News on.

It’s a Monday special about Scruffy Jim’s proposed tax payer funded 100,000 capacity stadium.

We had months to take that photo, they had about a week before handing the UCL back. We did it all in one season.
Not quite in one season but all won in one calendar year , however 5 throphies to 4 and acheived much quicker than them. Liverpool CL won June 2019, ESC won August 2019, WCC won December 2019, PL won July 2020 (13 months)
City PL won May 2023 , FAC won June 2023, CL won June 2023,
ESC won August 2023,
WCC won December 2023 (7 months)

You've got this backwards, Scruffy Jim wants some public/private finance bollocks to build the stadium, he wants the government to pick up the lions share of the tab. Starmer says no, but he won't stand in his way, he'll facilitate Scruffy building and paying for the stadium himself, but only by stumping up government money for a few extra trams and the odd bit of tarmac, peanuts in the scheme of things.

City were handed a brand new stadium 20 years ago for the price of a bottle of Vimto and a bag of Skittles, so we're in no position to criticise Starmer.

Ineos not Sir Jim per se...have set aside £240 mill for 'stadium redevelopment', this was enshrined within the offer.
New stadium , best guess at todays prices the thick end of £2.5 Billion. So, they have enough in their bin at present to pay for maybe, some Consultantcy fees, Architecture, Engineering, Planning etc...the development team is holding meetings, all which will be sucking expenses from the development fund tit.
In short.
They are nowhere near...a 90% shortfall on costings.
No way is this stadium getting built, and absolutely NO WAY will they get a copper coin off the GovT.
Apart from anything Else, Everton who had a far better site and strategy to create a 'wembley for the North, risked financila ruin and relegation financing their own build.

but that's not strictly true now, is it.

Old Trafford will close & they’ll blame the government for lack of funding, forced to play games at Wembley then in the US.

Scruffy Jim took one look at the €1bn turnover recently announced at Madrid helped by their new stadium and is desperate to get a bit of that action.

Wont matter that United have £3bn of debt - as the current rules are not interested in debt - only turnover - and a 100k capacity stadium would give them a huge advantage no matter how it is funded.

Is he still after taxpayers and Greater Manchester Council Tax payers funding it?

The stadium the rags played in the other day cost 5 Billion Dollars apparently and this appears to be the going rate now for a state of the art stadium. A lot of investment in that regardless of who pays for it.

Ergh this brand new stadium we were handed, did it originally come with a South Stand and an extra tier around the whole of the stadium ?
If it did, some fucker nicked it before we took charge.
Oh and by the way, its Vimpto.

The 'p' is invisible. A bit like the 'p' in pterodactyl is silent, but the other way round
