Ah brilliant okSavinho's first season in the PL, McAtee, if he's up to this level, I like Lewis, but the jury is still out; I'd be shocked if Bobb doesn't have a great season, but he's still unproven, etc.

He is as a midfield player, Alvarez was a libality playing that roleWe're comparing McAtee to Alvarez now? He's not even in the same ballpark as a player.
.The point is McAtee has literally proven almost nothing. Alvarez is an extremely accomplished player at the highest levels of club and international football.

I love it how the very same people, that default to 'Pep knows best' to end an arguement, are so readily implying Pep is a complete moron.
What, he played Alvarez as a 10 so much of the season, and not noticed he was a 'liability', and fucked the whole team structure, and persisted with it just to keep Alvarez happy, and you guys noticed it but he didn't? Fuck.. right .. off lol.
Alvarez was excellent most of the season. He dropped off at the end, but a lot of the goals scored came from his involvement. He covered for KdB well, and we kept winning. He displaced Foden from that role, other than the odd game here and there. There were games when Kevin started, that I couldn't wait for Alvarez to replace him, and we went up a couple gears when he did! And now people are suggesting a player that played 12 minutes for us in the last 3 years is better? The state of it, ffs.
It is a great deal, and a loss we can absolutely accommodate. But wow are some comments outright silly and just embarrassing.
They are an opinion. He was absolutely dog shit in midfield and when he was played there it was at a detriment to the team.
These are facts.

Did Pep have an understanding of football, when he carried on playing somebody dog shit repeatedly ?To those with eyes and an understanding of football, they are facts
Dog shit is a little strong - he wasn't as good in the role as we've become used to, granted. To those with eyes and an understanding of football, they are facts
Bobb making a step up is the only logical reason letting Alvarez go without an attacking recruitment. For those saying McAtee isn’t proven that’s right but also Pep wouldn’t keep him around for the sake of. Clearly seen something in him.

Let’s not rewrite history though mate, of course it’s wrong to say he was dog shit, but he didn’t have a single great game playing in the midfield role and it was clearly Pep shoehorning him into the side at times. A manager is allowed to have his favourites, Pep has proved that many times over the years, and that’s his prerogative - he’s done it with Bernie too.Clearly that's not you then.
I'm excited to give these academy lads a go as well. I really hope Pep starts Mcatee and Bobb on Saturday and doesn't play all the big guns who only arrived back yesterdayJulian is a top player, but he doesn't get into our best eleven. To sell him for such a sum is good business, as hard-nosed as it is. I feel confident going into the season with what we have, but more than confident, the opportunity for academy players to step up is more exciting to me than big buys. We have won everything. If that can continue with a parade of players who have come through the academy, it will be Pep's greatest achievement, IMO.
Yep, I still think that if a team offered 25m for Mcatee, we'd let him go. I want him to be given a chance thoughThat's fair, but we have said the same for McAtee two summers in a row. There are still 23 days to see if Pep keeps him around for the season. I hope he does btw.
But to argue he is better than Alvarez is just absurd. No issue with the rest.
