I can't really understand the desperate need to buy.

Ederson, Ortega, Carson = no keeper needed
Walker, Lewis, Akanji, Stones, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol = no defenders needed
Rodri, Kovacic, Nunes, DeBruyne, Foden, Bernardo, Grealish, O'Reilly, McAtee, Perrone = no central midfielders needed
Bobb, Doku, Savinho, = no wingers needed
Haaland

The only position, arguably, that we require is a back-up to Haaland. Given we are likely to play a false 9 in his absence, with a front line combination of Bobb, Doku, Savinho, Foden or DeBruyne, I don't see a centre forward of the highest calibre being willing to sit out game after game.

As for Rodri, similar. He isn't replaceable, so you rely on the combination of central midfielders we have.

Bruno would cost well over 100M crazy money in this market.

Wharton is very raw and could he come into this team straight away? And I find it difficult to beleive he has the rumoured release clause mentioned.

FDJ for me would be outstanding in a Pep team but again would be want to come?

Naves raw and for me very overrated.

Has Tixki got one of his out of nowhere signings lined up?

I think with Bobb, Doku and Savio we can safely say we've replaced Mahrez.

Having this many wingers, throw in Jack as well, means Phil and Bernie should play centrally all the time thus softening the departure of Gundo.
Kev is still with us too and looks fit.

So apart from the Rodri cunundrum we are good to go. Kovacic looking like he'll be more important this year.
Kovacic issue is the niggling injuries he gets, throughout his career he has had problems.

Looking at the midfield though, whilst it is looking likely we won't get a back up for Rodri, I still look at the attacking midfield options and see that we are going to be hoping for one big last hurrah from Kev and hope Foden replicates last seasons form.

None of the other options have that many goals or assists in them. Even Bernardo - whilst a scorer of important goals - isn't a great goalscorer or assistant.

The wide areas I am not concerned about at all, it's supplying them though.

There is not a player in the world at this time that could replace Rodri but that's not what we want, we need a player to compliment and also allow Rodri to get periods of rest.

Watching, Lewis,Bobb and Savinho yesterday confirmed we have effectively three new FIRST team players and lost one in Alvarez. Would like cover for Haaland and back up for Rodri but am happy for the kids to flourish for the longer term benefits.

100% ^

We needs some goals and assists brought in, unless Grealish produces far more and Bobb/Silvio replace Alvarez's contribution.

I think we have that. It's a personal view of course, but I don't think we can improve on the players we have to cover for Rodri's absence. I suspect that we will use Kova and Bernardo, or bring Stones/Gvardiol in to augment.

For the community shield, yes. Maybe for the carabao cup too it they are lucky. They won't be first team players in the league or champions league though.

I agree on goving hem a chance though, enough quality there for that in the squad.

Disagree personally, I think we look very light in central MF, if we were to lose Rodri for any period of time we are in trouble in terms of titles and at the end of the day that what we are about.

Remember this.

No **** out there had any idea whatsoever we were signing Akanji.

Not the ITKs, not the Romanos, Lees, Ornsteins or any twitter speculaters.

Nor Ortega. Alvarez. Gomes. Dias etc etc.

The deals just happened and hit the news a day or two before the process.

Just because there is a lack of rumour and speculation, doesn't mean incoming players aren't being worked on or maybe even at more advanced stages, pending departures.

Small club mentality this summer. McAtee and O’Rielly?…what a drop off.
Uncertainty with the manager, the charges? Whatever the factors, it will be the determining factor this season.
Europe is a write off and It is Arsenal’s title to lose.
Anyone with an other opinion is simply thinking with the heart.

The midfield needs improvement. The rags cut through us easily yesterday. Kovacic was very good but we still got opened up constantly. If you can’t see that’s a problem I don’t know what to tell you.

Rags if they could finish should’ve been 3 or 4 up, midfield was way to easily cut through.

You can’t get a better player than Rodri but you can get someone with atleast a similar skill set. Rodri is the best in world at cutting out passes through the middle we missed that yesterday.

Better than no thinking. We have lost Alvarez that’s it and got Savio, Bobb has made a step up almost like no drop off at all.

Oh, I do think that Rodri is a massive loss, but I do not think there is anyone out there to take his role who is better than what we have between Kovacic, Bernardo, Lewis, DeBruyne and Nunes. It's a very difficult position to cover.

I wonder if it will be someone from Porto. News last season was we had scouted more Porto games than any other club. Someone’s caught the clubs eye

It is slightly perplexing we haven’t sorted the midfield yet mate, we have LOADS of cash available for transfers so let’s get this squad sorted for another slog ahead this year! If Madrid need cash for something and want Rodrygo out we should be at the front of the queue and if indeed Barca sell FDJ for the rumoured €60m am we should do that as well and take the €20m off them for Cancelo and another treble could be on the cards!
lets be real, neither rodrygo or frenkie are fancy us, they are well-settled in spain and in the comfort zone. rodrygo is surrounded by spanish/brazilian players and has rejected us already because he's clearly doesn't want to leave while playing in his dream club, frenkie did reject us too in the past if i'm right. also fdj won't reduce his wages, i mean why would he lol, and his family clearly wouldn't want move to england, he def looked at gundo for that matter.

Agreed mate, we aren’t lickle old City now, we are the best in the world and need to invest like it to keep dominating!

The wages thing has been done to death though mate? It’s was deferred wages due to Covid and not his actual wage? There was also talk that Barca would know the difference off the transfer fee to make it up for him? I think he would move to us now as the Barca move although romantic for him at the time has gone Tom tit now and the chance to work with Pep with our squad and fight for all trophies every season would be too good for him to turn down imo.
