PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The PL hierarchy must be in cahoots with UEFA, Masters is bitterly opposed to Independent Regulation and so are the cartel clubs.

I am sure that is the case. Scope creep is something the PL and EFL said they were worried about. Which is ironic, given that that is exactly what happened with the PL rules to the extent that they started implementing rules that were challenged as being illegal.

Something has to give here. The riches in football are about to explode again with virtual reality and digital platforms. All the pigs want a slice of the cake including the Government. I can’t help feeling that the end game will be some sort Super League run by the clubs themselves who will also run the broadcasting. Rightly or wrongly it seems inevitable. The football brands will become like tech giants.

Except everybody needs tech. Nobody needs to watch football.

It's just as likely football consumes itself in greed and the sport eventually reverts back to just that, a sport.

Yes. Not sure where it will end. The global growth of football is unbelievable. It’s like a new wold religion. But it can become even bigger. The revenues are off the scale with the biggest clubs soon able to make £100m a match instead of a season. Perhaps the bubble will burst.Football seems to fill a hole in people’s lives like nothing else.

The fact that football was allowed to play on during The Rona , albeit with no crowds, proved to me that even the powers that be realise the importance of the game to the masses
(Another prediction come true by orwell in 1984)

It's not quite as clear cut as that. From what I can make out, UEFA have just pointed out their rules preventing government interference for which the ultimate punishment could be a ban from UEFA competitions. They even said they don't think it will come to that, and that their main concern is scope creep meaning, to me at least, that they don't have a problem with the proposal as it stands.

Anyway, it's a good headline.

The PL are the biggest “scope creeps” on the planet.

The arrogance of these cunts is fucking astonishing.

No no no the powers that be were scared to make the league null n void for fear of the dippers, not getting the *title

Whatever the outcome of this bs, it's going to get really messy. Surely the verdict will have to come when this season ends otherwise it will be one fucking huge mess which City fans could become targets from rival fans if we prevail

Great article written by Martin Samuel in 2020.

When you read Samuel articles it baffles me why no other football correspondent does write similar stuff. How can it be possible in the British press/media that only Samuel can see the truth ?

We’ve been targets for years mate.

Complete strangers on holiday/in the supermarket/at the gym calling us cheats when we have the audacity to wear our City clobber.

Court of public opinion. The smear campaign worked a treat.

I was meaning things could be a lot more nasty if we win the case and the decision is announced through the season

That was 4 years ago. Samuel doesn’t write stuff like that any more. He soon realised it’s better for your journalistic career to be nice to the red clubs and completely anti-City.

He has referred to us being ‘state owned’ on a number of occasions in recent times. He is however the best of a very bad bunch.

Agreed
It's beginning to turn very nasty as witnessed on my recent holiday.
Someone is going to get seriously hurt soon
