North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

Yellow is current rail seating provision.

Orange is the minimum we'd like to see.

Purple is GA+
More rail seating would be nice but I don't see it as a massive problem. It's a step in the right diretion, particularly being at the back? How many members do 1894 have in the stadium at any one time? GA + I don't think matters massively.

1894 are the only atompshere group the club has and if they don't take this opportunity to lead and influence this move they are fucking idiots.

They consulated the fans first and the approach they've taken is based on their input. City said if there's demand for rail seating in the future then they'll expand it. Sounds like a pragmatic approach to me and some people will moan at anything.
I was privy to numerous surveys and the number of fans who showed an interest in rail seating in the North Stand was huge. They fell short of surveying all seasoncard holders (something we recommended they do), but the demand is undoubtedly there.

My point (which no one seems to be able to answer), is if this was an 'atmospheric North Stand', why not say they are going to put 6/7k rail seats in (to the orange line on the images above) and then, should the demand not be there, they reduce it slightly?

Because the club have displayed a tiny strip or rail-seating, they're going to struggle pursuading fans to go there en masse. The public update could have been far bolder and that would have made the job (improving the atmosphere by relocating singers into the back of NSL2) significantly easier.

I hate this common theme where fans say 'stop moaning'. It's not moaning. I'm passionate about this. I want it to work. These are my views on a forum dedicated to this particular topic. We're allowed to share views and describe what we would like to see.

When did they consult the fans? The club have never been in touch with me about it

That's a terrible take Dave. To call 1894 idiots for not blindly walking into something is poor.

We absolutely need to know pricing. We need to know how many SCs there will be. We need commitments on the number of rail seats and when they'll go in (saying 3k and maybe more if we feel like it isn't a commitment).

The onus is on City to facilitate an atmospheric North Stand (if they want one). Not on a group of fans who volunteer their free time (and have had tons of recommendations on how to make this a truly special stand ignored).

There hasn’t been any wider consultation with the fan base.

The discussions and the decisions have been with the fan reps, binded by the NDA’s.

Bar the limited press release from the club recently, which contained some minimal new and updated information, the wider fan base doesn’t know what else the club have decided.

GA+ should be at back of ESL1 with lounge access leaving more of ESL2 to lower price singers.

Is that possible ??
I'm sure it is but the club seem fixated in wanting to have a GA+ section in the new stand, and located front and centre of that stand. It's been suggested to them that GA+ could be moved elsewhere but it looks like they're not budging.

Anything is possible!

Some of the ideas we gave City:

1. Move GA+ seats to either ESL2/CBL2.
2. Move GA+ seats to the corners so they aren't central.
3. Don't bunch GA+ seats together (instead have them mixed in between 'regular' fans so we avoid big blocks of empties.

For reference this is what we're trying to avoid (see lack of participation in displays and empty seats in similar section of SSL2):

Nobody's asking you to walk into anything blindly. Just drop the daft red lines, demands and hard lines of communication and try to influence this thing as much as you can from the inside. You don't "need" any of that stuff. No decisions need to be made yet.

Here’s a daft idea.

Why doesn’t the club have consultation events on match days telling the fans what the club’s ideas and plans are for the NS.

I’m sure almost every person who posts on this thread, the atmosphere thread, etc, would go to those consultations and give feedback to the club.

That way the club would get to find out what the wider fan base wants for the NS, and what they think of the ideas and plans the club already have in place for the NS.

It’s really not hard to do is it, even at this late stage.

Could be front & centre of NSL1....is there a lounge behind there ?

Why would the club be so insistent on GA+ being in NS2, not NS1, pricing would be identical for an almost identical position.

Am I missing something ?

It really isn't. I don't want to sound cynical but it begs the question as to why the club haven't surveyed the wider fanbase on this.

Probably because it would firstly mean moving people that currently don't need to be moved, but also it isn't a great view of the game. especially central behind the goals. That said it is where we were for the Aguero goal ,so great memories of NS 1.

The NS2 seats are central behind the goals.

This is the key in terms of making it into a proper home end. We need to convince the club to put rail seating in the orange area.

The club seem open to it as well. Perhaps this is where city matters, 1894 group, supporters clubs can come together to push the club or at least make the club tell us if it’s going to happen and when.

It’s a bit vague, saying we might do it based on interest. The club knows demand for standing is huge.

This is a great opportunity and there’s still time to change this.
