It’s almost too ridiculous to be true!

Another thing that I can’t recall ever being called out was the ridiculous situation they had going on, where Ferguson had a clause in his contract saying his wages would always automatically match the top earning player at the club. While he was also largely in charge over negotiating player’s contracts.

I can just imagine on one of Rooney’s multiple demands for a mid contract pay rise, the pair of them sat there.
