How many points to win the league?

Injuries have decimated Arsenal & City, but unless the players take action about the amount of games they're expected to play with a 25-man squad, we can expect many more matches where teams are in game management mode & trying not to lose, as they plot to stay in the hunt for honours until the latter stages of the season.
The amount of games has increased but the squad sizes are decreasing also.
If we genuinely had 25 players that Pep would pick from I wouldn't be so worried.
I don't think we are utilising anything near to 25 players.

Don't think any top side has been great and yet we're top of the league and unbeaten after a quarter of the season (almost).

Think a draw from a net points perspective was a perfect result today, 4 points dropped.

I think that Liverpool midfield will struggle this season and Arsenal are just struggling in general, really not playing well.

It's certainly an issue & something has to give. Pep's already said the Carabao Cup won't be a priority this season, & I also sense he's become seriously pissed off with especially the older members of our squad returning injured from pointless Internationals.

A Bayern official defended the amount of games being played & blamed player greed on the need to generate more income to satisfy their wage demands. I suppose there's an element of truth on both sides of the argument.

Players like Kyle & Kev baffle me. At their age, what more do they expect to gain from being an international? Both are blocking younger talent from coming through & shortening their domestic careers in the process for basically the same wage.

Was surprised at how the Arsenal Liverpool match went. Arsenal fell apart once Gabriel went off and ended up playing like they did with 10 against us. Liverpool lacked a bit of a cutting edge when Arsenal were there for the taking.

Don’t think either are at their best. The issue we have is that we’re not as defensively sound without Rodri or as creative without KGB or Rodri. If we can fight through to January and get KDB back soon plus add someone like Zubimendi we would be well set to challenge on every front.

Agreed that no one has really stood out so far, but my guess is it's game management all round, until the Spring where not losing won't be enough.

Looks like the PL & CL are gonna be a tough watch until then...

Some Tarquin on 606,

"We lost the league with the draw at City"

Jesus, arrogant or what.

No league title in 20 odd years or whatever, recent history of bottling it and they drew with us about 5 games into a season.

The mentality of that Club!

True that mate but we have something they don't, Pep.
Indeed.

Wouldn't suprise if we get an Akanji like signing cheap signing in January that's gets us over the line. Along with a fit Kev and Oscar Bobb appearing when we need them to push us through.

We dont look at our best. But then neither do the Arse. The dippers have had a decent start but I think the titles beyond them.

Smacks of Pep “managing” the first half of the season. Just do enough to be in the mix come January then take advantage of only giving 95% up to that point and go on one of our legendary runs on the run in!!

Lets hope it works out like that. Bit worried we are a body or two light in the first team squad, maybe a January acquisition will happen…

It's way to early to be thinking teams are out of the running, I will wait until new year before looking at the table seriously and thinking can we win it.
I agree with you 100%.
I'll counter though by saying what I've said elsewhere - and add to it.
We're still not anywhere near our best.
We've potentially had our worst injury record under Pep - certainly the last couple of weeks
Normally at this stage we've lost a game you wouldn't expect us to.
Unintentionally the upcoming 3rd International break actually works heavily in our favour - hopefully we can be down to just 2 out after it, Bobb and unfortunately Rodders.
I'm upbeat but not taking anything for granted 9 games in!
