Fully aware of that. I haven’t actually been living under a rock for four years.

Price inflation of consumer goods has rocketed though and seriously hurt people in the wallet, particularly working class families. Rightly or wrongly (and in this case I agree, largely wrongly) the incumbent government will ALWAYS get a kicking for it. It’s politics 1.01.

People felt better off under Trump, and that’s the beginning and end of it. The rest is noise.

He has been crystal clear in how ruthless and autocratic and even vindictive he wants to be, and he has been given a massive mandate to do it. This must be how Americans want it to be

Polls were within error margins I think - it's almost exactly a tie. People ascribing false accuracy to polls, or superimposing their own desires on them is another thing. Plenty of the latter on here.

It boils down to the different standards that the left and right expect of their politicians. The right have a sub zero standard, they just want an alpha male shithouse. The left worry about policy and nuance.

It feels like the only answer is for the right to trash the country and learn the hard way. As has happened many times with dictatorships all over the world.
