Hasn't been good enough. Not his fault because he's playing a role not really suitable for his skill set. Good squad player but limited in a starting role without someone like Rodri.

He would be better as a number 8. Wants to run with the ball too much (often out of control) and then finds himself out of position.
But then again, who the hell else do we have that can play the Rodri role who would be any better than Kovacic?

he cannot play the Rodri role. he tries but its simply not his best fit. he needed Kante next to him at Chelsea for example. we bought Phillips as a Rodri sub not Kovacic but that turned out be one of the worst fucking transfer of Txiki.

He’s being exposed by the system, but is also very limited in terms of what he offers in that role.
Ok sat in the midfield alongside Rodri / someone else but never a sole no. 6. Hasn‘t got the quality to be a mainstay of a team with the ambitions we have. That we‘re relying so heavily on him is a symptom of how the squad has regressed.

It's of the ball which is his and teams biggest liability he reads danger to late was his fault for me beginning second half! Also our defenders are all let back of let players run at us and let's wait to see what happens!

not only bernado and foden. Rico and Josko were often very high up as well. clearly not working for us

He's been my player of the season up until the last couple of games.

I mean, it's not as if anyone has leapfrogged him in that regard but it has taken the shine off a great start to the campaign.

I honestly think he isn’t that bad it’s just that they are getting exposed due to this inverted fullback stuff which leads him being alone with 2 CB. Our RB is not offering anything going forward so if the our RB at least stays back with him I think it would change much on the defensive side of the game. Don’t really expect anything from him on the offense.

id like to see him and Rico in that area, Rico with the pace to help Kova in his defensive duties, and then have others in the defensive side.

Either that or let someone else do the Defesnive midfielder role that has bloody pace!
