Russian invasion of Ukraine

Currency tanking, having to use 100,000 North Korean soldiers as they are running out of troops of fighting age in their own country. Desperately trying to show their capabilities with a missile that could carry nukes. It’s not going well for them, Europe needs to show its resolve and see this through even if the Americans don’t.

I’m slowly coming to the conclusion that, one way or the other, the election of Trump isn’t going to be as catastrophic for Ukraine as was feared before November 5th.

It's difficult to tell the significance of this. Russia has stockpiles of foreign currency that it has been using to fund the war. Its difficult to see what is left and how they are getting round sanctions.

The oil price is fairly stable but its down if anything over recent years.

You would think with Trump about to take the Whitehouse Russia would be on the up.

Now that Trump has done a lot worse than be pissed on by some Russian prostitutes and seen that his supporters don’t care, Putin’s kompromat has become worthless. It’s now down to whether Putin still has the resources to personally enrich Trump. That’s the main thing that would dictate US foreign policy regarding the war with Ukraine post 20 Jan.

Not if he starts to drill, baby drill.

If the price of oil drops significantly then They really are fucked.

I thought he was the one doing the pissing, no?

Not really as the ruSSians are already giving it away
Hopefully the increased sanctions will help.

Foreign Office announces further sanctions against Russia's 'shadow fleet' of oil tankers

The Foreign Office has announced a fresh wave of sanctions against Russia’s “shadow fleet” of oil tankers which it is using to try to evade international restricitons on its oil importants.

In a news release, the Foreign Office said:

Thirty ships in Russia’s shadow fleet, responsible for transporting billions of pounds worth of oil and oil products in the last year alone, have today been sanctioned by the UK. With half of the ships targeted today transporting more than $4.3bn worth of oil and oil products like gasoline in the last year alone, today is the largest UK package of its kind.
The move will further constrain the Kremlin’s ability to fund their illegal war in Ukraine and their malign activity worldwide, and brings the total number of oil tankers sanctioned by the UK to 73, more than any other nation - demonstrating the UK’s leadership on tackling the shadow fleet

Hopefully the increased sanctions will help.

Was thinking the same!

On your previous point, whilst they are selling at a heavy discount , and therefore at a low margin (especially give the relatively high cost of extraction in Russia) then those tight margins are going to get even more squeezed if the price of a barrel goes down even further.
