The Squad planning thread

Off the rip I'm keeping Akanji over Stones...
I think if we were to go for someone like Tomori like I suggested, getting rid of Akanji over Stones would make a bit more sense. Stones has the benefit of being homegrown and bringing something a bit different to our other centre backs.
Nobody will pay £65 million for Grealish
It's more or less what his valutation on Transfermarkt is. I didn't really deviate past that for any of the valuations. I could see Villa making a move for him if they get Europe again this year.
I checked out when you suggested selling Ederson and replacing him with either Bazunu or Trafford. Thankfully you're not in Hugo Viana's position!
Well, if you read literally the first paragraph of what I wrote, Ederson would be replaced by Ortega and Ortega's backup spot would be taken by a young keeper who has experience with the City system. You really don't think either would be good as a BACKUP? Come on now...

With Ederson we had to convince him to stay in the Summer and I don't think expecting him too want out again is too shocking. He has 1 year left, he won't sign a new deal. Sell him or lose him for free. Deciding to keep him until his contract runs out is not a crazy proposal but neither is selling him. There is no keeper available right now who would be as good as Ederson.
If you put both of them in at the same time they would not be fit to hold Ederson's gloves, never mind replace him.

FFS what's wrong with people out there, a few defeats and our fans have hit the spice!!
Again, there is no obvious replacement available. What would be wrong with giving Ortega the number 1 spot while signing a cheap young keeper who played in our academy to do early cup rounds and such? Both have Premier League experience in case Ortega is injured too. Our focus should be elsewhere than trying to panic sign an Ederson replacement.

I literally explained this in my post. Maybe consider actually reading it instead of going WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE AHHH. I put a good bit of thought into my suggestions

Club have to back Pep so obvious squad needs a serious refresh. Would start in Jan:

A.Robinson (Fulham)
Kolo Muani (PSG) Loan option to buy
Zubimendi (R.Sociedad)

Summer:

J.Frimpong (Leverkusen)
Bastoni (Inter)
Ezé (Crystal Palace)
Kvaratskhelia (Napoli)
Musiala (Bayern) - Kev replacement
New GK if Ederson doesn't book ideas up

Worrying thing is, I could probably count on one hand how many of our players are untouchable. Dias, Rodri, Foden, Haaland... thats probably it.

Honestly, throw money at Alphonso Davies & Dumfries in January, get some pace and directness on the flanks and plays the CBs based off form. Push Stones in midfield.

Remember when we spent £200mil on fullbacks because they were important? This is worse than Sagna & Clichy.

As a reminder this is what we could have had if we hadn't been caring so much about the net spend trophy.

This isn’t a video game. I’d bet good money we don’t sign any of those players.

The problem we’ve had over the past 2 years is that the top class players that we were prepared to pay the big money for have either chosen to go elsewhere (Bellingham, Rice) or are unobtainable (Musiala, Wirtz).

Then the tier of players who we’d hope to develop into top class players by playing under pep (Bruno G, Paqueta) we are being quoted over £100mil for and won’t pay it.

I don’t see us doing any meaningful business in Jan, it’ll be work towards hopefully having an active summer, but even that will require us unearthing some gems as it’s hard to see who we can buy that will be good enough.

With Paqueta it was his betting charges (which apparentely West Ham hid from us until the last minute) that stopped that from happening and we opted for Nunes.

He’s bang average too, absolutely not where we should be shopping. Being the 4th best player for the 8th best team in the league shouldn’t be anywhere near our targets.

January signings are a must can't be waiting till the summer again there have to be options out there who can improve the squad. City have had windows in the past where we've signed 4-5 class players who are capable of playing in Peps system it needs to happen again. This season feels like a repeat of the 2016-17, players over the hill getting stale the level has dropped massively, this isn't nip and tuck a massive rebuild is required.

Who is available who is of the right qualities who can make a difference mid season? You are expecting too much for that to really happen.
