If he was being made availble at Benfica.
So other players wouldn’t come but Otamendi would. And we’d think that was a good option. Bearing in mind you’re saying decent players wouldn’t leave their club mid season. I’m going to bed I suggest you do too.

But if we are meant to be short as we aren't getting a long term signing mid season. Get to the summer and get the better targets in then.
You seem to be making it out that City have the pull of Mansfield Town.

When City come knocking for you these days, you drop everything and join.

Not always the case. There have been players who have rejected us too and Zubimendi had rejected Liverpool and has said he hasn't regretted the decision. Laporte and Delph initally did but they did eventually did make the switch withing 6 months.

Otamendi for the short term is not the worse of suggestions if we want cover.
It might not be the worst, but it can't be far off. He was absolutely bloody horrible in his last two years here, which much better 5 years ago.

That’s 3 players out of how many?

The percentage of players not willing to join will be a smaller percentage than our chances of winning on Sunday.

He might be up for a return and might be content with a place in the squad rather than a place in the first team. Or better still bide our time and don't make any signings until the summer and bring them in then.

Maguire, Dani Alves,Bellingham, Rice as well. It is a big step and it still has to take some consideration regardless of Pep and City,

I'd take either Allison or Kelleher.
Seemingly Slot is happy to let either go.
Not too sure why.
Leicester and Fulham looking at Delap in the Xmas transfer window.
Our buyback clause doesn't kick in until the end of this season.
Brighton also willing to let Ferguson go on loan.
Any of those would be an improvement to our squad strength.

Id be very surprised if we sign anyone in Jan. Unless the charges case is done and dusted, I just don't think the club will make a move.

Whilst I want to believe the confidence that seemingly Pep has and I want to trust Tolmie is hearing news in good faith. It's not done until it's done.

Understandably potential recruits would be very cautious as well. I'd speculate any decent top players would be reluctant to seriously consider us before the case is done and dusted.

When Steed Malbranque turned us down, I was devestated. It summed up where we were outside the blue tinted lens. Fulham were more attractive.

To suggest anything like that now is negated by the likes of Haaland, Gvardiol, Grealish - tracked and wanted by everyone and chose us. Is the 115 spectre of doom influencing choices, who knows? But we are a huge pull. Sometimes some players just don’t want to move to Manchester. See Newcastle, Anzhi Makhachkala or Saudi clubs for reference to where money alone gets you. But how many talents do we attract who turn our club and city into their home and stay for most of their careers. Think a few are selling us a bit short here

If nothing else , I would want Pep to leave the team as strong as Kloop did which involved blooding Some youngsters too along with some intelligent signings in the next 4 windows.

Not suggesting we aren't a major pull but the statement that once City come knocking you drop everything is a little hyperbolic. Especially mid-season.

Stiller's nose is enormous. What a snozz, that.

Hjulmand would be a fantastic target, the captain of his current club, a defensive mid with stature, and poise, and physicality. He's the most like for like Rodri replacement on the market right now, and he may be available for a cut rate price for his old sporting director joining up with us.

But he's got an Arsenal tattoo.

Allison would be decent but not Kelleher.
