I remember talksport calling this Peps next evolution when we signed Kova, Nunes, Doku last year. He’s moved away from technical and more towards players who drive with the ball.

The issue we have is there is no space to drive into with a low block and they lack that cutting edge pass in gaps nobody else sees.

With our style of play we definitely need technical flair back in that midfield.
Yeah and this might be one of the very few ones Pep has got wrong - that's no slight on him, just a misstep. We need the technicians to release the speedsters

Even through I’m not convinced on Frimpong, I am heartened that right back seems to be the position we’re getting players linked with.
apart from frimpong haven't seen any credible rumours of other options tbh, seems like he's the main target to replace walker

Kimmich’s name has been bandied about too.
same old strategy from him to get a new contract planting rumours, plus again haven't read any reliable sources linking us with him this season. also don't wan't him at all, another short-term option, we need a fresh blood for rebuild

You need to give us your own suggestions. We are all in this together and you need to pull your weight.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis, easy to do if that release clause exists. Far better player than when he left due the experience he's gained.
Ederson from Atalanta. Strength, pace and a position we desperately need to fill. Good age.
Bruno Guimaraes, same as Ederson above.
Tyler Dibling is a quality player.
Right back a problem, possibly Frimpong.
Certainly not the likes of Trippier, Ruben Neves and Kimmich.
Two, maybe three, minimum in January. Bigger hopefully in the summer window. Wirtz if he is as good as people say. Every time I've seen him I've been a little underwhelmed.

Think it is almost decision time, though it might be a free in the summer, if at all.

Frimpong has played in a back 4 before. It’s a no brainer. I’d rather watch my right back be confident in possession, navigate tight spaces and contribute to the attack. Most modern fullbacks aren’t that great defensively anyway and you can make systems to compensate their defensive shortcomings re; Trent.

We should bring him back to the club. Right time too

I’m sure we have won a few things in the past 3 years who is this someone
Buying shite like Phillips and Nunez, cheap options like akanji and Kovacic, offering a 3yr contract to Walker just so we didn’t have to buy someone else, quibbling over £5m here and there, getting Gundogan back on a free. All to avoid paying top dollar for who we really wanted and look at us now. Standing still has fucked us.

Not sure why you included Akanji or Kovacic in that. But ignoring that why do you think we avoided paying big money for who we really wanted last summer. I don’t know myself ,though I have a few ideas.
Do you think the club had good reason or just did it for a laugh?

Akanji and Kovacic for £40m is incredible business. Good post otherwise.
