PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Sorry to put a dampener on things this morning after getting back to winning ways but just thought I’d share this. One of our lot was telling me last night that he heard on Sunday from someone at Anfield that 50-odd charges have fallen away but they’re going to find against us on some of the others, and we’re getting a 40 point deduction. Now if this “someone” was a random bloke, then obviously I wouldn’t even be giving it the time of day, let alone posting it on here. However, we all know or have at least heard of this “someone” - who I won’t name but I’m sure some will be able to work out who it is - and he told my mate that he’d heard this from a contact “high up at the club”.

Anyway, this mate who heard this said he naturally wasn’t in the best of moods as the second half kicked off! However, he has plenty of other contacts in the media and at the club. One of his media contacts is someone who’s been his mate for the past 30-odd years and again is someone we all know as he errr, cough cough, posts on here ;) So he asked him if he’d heard anything about this so-called 40 point deduction. The answer he got back was along the lines of “That’s bollocks as they’ve not even done the summing up yet!”. This is a fair point as while I think both sides might have an inkling of how things are going at this stage, if the summing up hasn’t even started (or is just starting going off the pics that have been posted on here), let alone the panel then sitting down and spending months deliberating, I can’t see how anyone would know at this point in time what our punishment - if there is to be any - would be.

Like I say, sorry for the seemingly negative post but I think it’s only fair that info from sources should be shared regardless of whether it’s positive or negative.

That’s good to hear re you dealing with a 200 mile round trip.
It’s not the distance that’s their problem - they go home & away usually but they can’t set off “shortly” because they’re in work! If they get out at 6pm they’ll not make it because they’re ex Mancs & no longer live locally. One has to travel from Stafford & the other from Blackpool - rush hour traffic prevents them getting there before 8pm (if they’re lucky!)
Fair enough mate.

Cheers mate. I’m inclined to ageee but any reason why IC would say he heard it from someone high up at the club? Never had him down as a BS merchant.
Could be an innocent mistake or something lost in translation. Probably the only people at City being briefed by our lawyers would be Khaldoon and Sheikh Mansour. Even Pep probably only gets a brief summary of our position. But rumours will surely be circulating through the rest of the staff. It is also possible the negative narrative was seeded by one of our rival clubs. Lots of staff from PL clubs talk to each other.

Could be two "lost in translations", I suppose.

The first would be an offer of a settlement that the club is/was considering/not considering.

The second would be it's the PL's suggested sanction.

Problems with both of those, though. And I am not sure either makes much sense at this stage.

I have a lot of time for Cheeseman. He is an old school journalist trying to make it in a new social media world. Good luck to him. But this? I just don't see it.

There is a fantastic opportunity over the next few months for City to shore up all the leaks to journalists etc. Feed a different story to each suspected leak, wait and see what gets published and quietly move the blabbermouths out of the club.

“Wagatha” type drama to get the truth out there…

Wonder what the catchy name could be?

Soriano has done that before, iirc.

Last "official' item I read was the hearing had been delayed as both sides were preparing their closing arguments. And then the panel will adjourn to deliberate. As far as I am concerned any 'leaks' are bullshit and will not be believed until there is an official announcement.

The City Team.

After succeeding on a special mission in England & Europe two Emerati and three Europeans freedom fighters face a series of jumped up court cases due to being fitted up with false evidence by ageing and crumbling evil empires. Thier crime was winning football matches & trophies. Thirteen years later, they get a chance to clear their names.

In the final scene Pep smokes a cigar ;)

To be honest, I’d be very surprised if City didn’t have prior notice of the outcome before it was made public. As I understand it, and perhaps someone who knows their onions on this kind of thing such as @petrusha or @slbsn can clarify, the verdict would be communicated in advance to both parties so they could correct any errors, etc.

There were also various indicators outside of Ian Cheeseman’s tweet in the days and weeks leading up to the announcement that suggested it had gone our way:

1) Pep’s body language and not so cryptic words in interviews
2) After we beat Liverpool 4-0 at home, someone posted on here (you I think!) that Liverpool execs left the Etihad that evening in a not very good mood and implied it was to do with the CAS case
3) I myself received a WhatsApp message off a mate on the Sunday night before the verdict became public. It was a message from his mate who said he’d heard that we’d won the case. His mate’s source was someone involved in running one of the OSC branches whose daughter worked at City. She said the staff were informed on the Friday afternoon before the announcement and then he went telling everyone down the pub on the Saturday while pissed up ;) I posted that info on here on the Sunday night after I heard it and still have the message on my phone

They’re the ones I’m aware of but there may well be others. I don’t have an issue with anyone debunking this latest stuff from Cheesy as looking at what stage the case is currently at, it doesn’t stack up. However, after he posted the CAS tweet there seemed to be a few prominent City fans with social media accounts - not you by the way - who not only tried to discredit his info, but also tried to discredit his character to the point that it was nothing short of disturbing. I remember one poster on here - Billy Shears - being involved with the pile on. He implied that Cheesy was involved in something quite sinister. I won’t go into the details as the posts were rightfully deleted but when I asked him to elaborate, he said “I’ll PM you”. To this day, that PM hasn’t arrived.
The parties will have between a couple of hours (simple case like PSR) and up to a few days (this sort of case) to review a strictly embargoed judgment. Nobody knows the result early and all the PL cases to date have been watertight until the judgment was seen by the parties.
