You are making the big mistake that many on the right make:

Viewership & truth in reporting have NOTHING to do with each other. NADA.ZIP.ZILCH.

If there was ANY correlation, FoxNews would have zero viewership, yet they’re apparently the #1 Cable “News” Channel, even though they take great pains to point out most of their programming is highly paid “opinion.”

And I'm not "on the right", I'm a Massachusetts Independent. You people on here just can't ever seem to get that right. Anyone that calls out your clear fucking bullshit lies and hypocrisy and never-ending deflections is a Trump voter. Good of you to admit that CNN and MSNBC do not engage in truthful reporting. Nice pivot to Fox though.

YOU are another partisan leftist hack.

But but but Trump. But but but White people. But but but let me publicly polish my halo of tolerance.

The left is NOTHING but grievances, 100%, 24x7 it's nothing BUT intersectional oppression Olympics and the White bogeyman. You've been playing this game since the mid-1960s and now you've gone full Hitler. You're done.

You've learnt absolutely nothing have you from your devastating loss? Inflation is a White grievance? Illegal immigration is a White grievance? Men pretending to be women is a White grievance? Inner-City crime is a White grievance? Keep telling yourself that, and keep losing.

But but but racism, but but but bigotry, but but but misogyny, but but but phobias, but but but White people. lol Even the election returns won't deter you from the path you're going down.

Good.

Your only hope is that Trump totally tanks the economy.

Well if you are going to be 'fair and balanced' you should also describe what passes for news on MSDNC and CNN.

How does one watch The Reidout and not leave needing a shower?
That’s “opinion” not news!

As for the MSDNC…your slip is showing!

I watch CNN all over the world and find it better than MSNBC or Fox, but I always like to mix it with BBC World. That said, I do like Rachel Maddow’s long form reporting, which I find both factual and detailed, even if her targets are generally on the right.

I hope Trump is outstandingly successful!

You clearly have no clue who I am.

Democrat predictions, 2024.

Republicans are so out of touch with Gen Z and millennials. The young vote is ours! It's a lock.
Republicans have B-list celebs, our celebs will get out the vote.
The smartest people vote for us. Indian-Americans will never vote for Trump.
Roevember is coming! American women will crush the Republicans!!!
We've raised billions! Republicans have no ground-game! We're going to wipe the floor with Trump.
Iowa, even Texas, maybe Florida are in-play.
White men for Harris will put us over the top.
Puerto Ricans in Pennsylvania will bury Trump.
No way will black men vote Republican.
Hispanics are going to come home. Trumps done!
When we win the House, hold the Senate, take the White House we'll pack the Supreme Court with 30 year old progressives! Yes!!!
Trump will claim victory before the results are in!
Trump's appeal is not transferable.
No one will vote because of inflation and high-housing costs.
Trump can't win the suburbs.
Trump is going to prison.

Biden Team Considers Blanket Pardons Before Donald Trump’s Promised ‘Retribution’

Some members of President Biden’s staff have suggested protecting a list of current and former government officials from potential criminal charges.

And heads explode! HAHA!!!

I hope Trump is outstandingly successful!

You clearly have no clue who I am.
You're a registered Republican, fiscally conservative, socially liberal, you flirted with being a Libertarian when younger, but you can't possibly support a man who, amongst other things, organized a criminal conspiracy to overturn an election and subvert the Constitutional order? Am I close? Miles off?

I hope he is amazingly successful, because if he isn't we all suffer.

A few of those are true and a few should be.

However, you seem like a bit of a ****, so I think I’ll avoid you.

I have to say I have come to the same conclusion as you did except he doesn't seem to have the warmth or the depth.
He said he didn’t vote for Trump and hates him, but I’m beginning to think in fact that though he hates him, he voted for him anyhow. Also a lack of engagement except in antagonistic terms and a lot of copy and paste is getting tiresome now.

There is a Trump thread that a lot of the stuff being done to death in here probably should reside. Certainly all the pro and anti Trump dedicated arguments could be kept there.
Now I’m fully aware I’m probably one of the worst culprits for going off theme but I have now, a couple of times, tried to debate actual American systems ( which I am being educated in) and also the likely impact of Trump’s incoming government and cabinet, should they pursue keeping his promises.
Indeed, is there any real desire to pursue his economics.
That is of as much interest to me as the regressive ( my view) structural plans that I feel, like a lot of the Democrats’ side in here, are possibly anti-democratic.
I know a lot in here don’t see it that way but from the outside looking in with my limited understanding of how your three houses operate and how your judiciary seems so intertwined, it just unnerves me as to what the ultimate goal is for both Trump and his backing. Because I still see him as a puppet for others determining policy.

These are the open questions that are difficult to answer because he has historically been a wildcard, is now a lame duck so the GOP is slightly less beholden to him, and now that's he protected himself against prosecution and re-polished his wealth-making brand -- the two key reasons for him to run -- it's unclear how policy ends up actually playing a role, because policy requires work, and his history suggests he has little interest in doing any.

We won’t know until next year and I do feel you are quite correct in a lot of your prognosis.
However the worrying incompletion is perhaps if he himself has designs on staying beyond your constitutional two terms.

Would he hand over to Vance for completion of a higher powers agenda?
Sit back and enjoy his retirement?
Not sure his ego would allow him do that.

If he takes the easy option as you say, how do you and the Reps in here as well, envisage the economy and grass roots level impact being affected.

I like a lot of others on this side of the Atlantic am very interested in where your foreign policy is going to go also.

I suspect he'll periodically mention a 3rd term, but the Constitution forbids it. I think they're quite a way yet from overturning that bar.

Also, he'll be 82 by the next election, and he may be in obvious decline. As has been said, the party may be happy to be rid of him and continue with someone smarter and harder working.

The open question is how much of the Project 2025 stuff gets acted on. The huge savings that Musk rants about, and the claimed mass firings of civil servants, etc, could cause mayhem that's difficult to predict right now.

Maddow's research and attention to detail is spot on. I found her podcasts "Bag Man' and 'Ultra' fascinating and hugely informative.

CNN international is far better than the crap we get served here in the States. I'd give you that. But I find streaming platforms like Rising and breaking points to be far more informative as opinion disseminating platforms than I do the major News Networks.

As for 'MSDNC, I mean, I don't think even they care to deny it

Also, used to love Maddow back in the day, when she used to come on Countdown with Keith Olbermann as a guest. Very intelligent left leaning woman. She mostly bored me these days.

Nah, Username Required is a breath of Fresh Air. :)

In so far as he is the incoming President, it only makes sense that some of the stories and arguments for and against him will end up in the U.S. Politics thread.

I mean the man was out of office for 4 years and half the posts here during that period was still about ridiculing and bashing him.

In spite of having his own thread and not being in office. Even the Biden and Kamala threads became a Trump comparison thread. Rather than a thread focused on their own competence or lack thereof.

But very few saw the need to point out the ' whataboutery' of it all.

You know this is also true of you me or Blue Maverick, right?

You can easily be knifed tomorrow. Didn't some politician get knifed a few years back?

It's a stupid statement because it's more lusting than any factual observation.

Let me guess... Blue Maverick is a super Elon fan right? I doubt it.
If someone gets knifed over here, its headline news. They don't talk about shootings in America unless its more than 20 kids, in a school.
There is far more chance of you being shot in America than there is of you being stabbed in the UK.
