VDV is wank
Unfair, Van Der Vaart had some absolute class but his time has passed.

Agree, Mcatee will never be good enough to be a regular in that team. Need to cash inTotally disagree. McAtee has been given a decent go but looks miles off in establishing himself even in our current state. Rico Lewis is better than what you have described him as. Pep does rate him hence more starts.
no more barreda so leaks are very scarceIs so much silence a good thing or a bad thing?
I know what you mean but I just me for January it gives us a little boost. We never do business in January so anything is a bonusI’ve a real problem with this.(not directly from you personally here either btw)
Echeverri and Bobb are being unintentionally built to unrealistic levels of expectation.
Two players I’m more than happy to see get all the minutes they can get but let’s not think they won’t have set backs and games they vanish etc.
You might be right. Reckon Walker could about catch him now…Unfair, Van Der Vaart had some absolute class but his time has passed.
He's not enough for that team and never will be. We've already sold plenty better than himMcAtee has been given a paltry 333 minutes of football for us this season and 261 minutes for England U21. Not sure that's enough to judge any player, particularly when there have been enormous gaps between appearances.
And to our embarrassment. I’m not prepared to write him off just yet. He's not enough for that team and never will be. We've already sold plenty better than him
Which comes back to the questionHe's not enough for that team and never will be. We've already sold plenty better than him

Whatever makes you feel better. We can take solace of winning the "Class is permanent" shield whilst we fight for a top 4 space.Form is temporary. Class is permanent.
Guardiola would play him if his optimal circumstances allowed, but they consistently have not and he now finds himself in a bind. That reliance on a small squad of senior players has stood us in good stead, but there comes a point when they can no longer physically and mentally rally to the call. I still think McAtee would serve us better on the right wing, giving us extra choices in midfield. That includes 80 minutes in the Community Shield and just 2 minutes in the Prem. To be honest it doesn't matter how we judge him, Pep doesn't want to play him but was keen he stayed with us. Regardless of his talent, that alone makes his squad place an absolute waste - not only that, but not giving him minutes means an over reliance on older, out of form players.
I loved watching McAtee progress through the youth age groups. He was a stand out player for us along with Palmer.Guardiola would play him if his optimal circumstances allowed, but they consistently have not and he now finds himself in a bind. He's looked a little bit lost at times when he's played, but at the same time there's the occasional nice bit of skill from him. Could well fall into that category of making a decent living out of the game but most likely not with us.I loved watching McAtee progress through the youth age groups. I haven’t seen anything to suggest anything but him being an average player in senior football. He didn’t stand out at Sheff U and has shown nothing with our senior team.
Pep will also be scarred by the Feyenoord game. I doubt McAtee will get any minutes outside of if we’re 4 up to rest others.
It might be a confidence thing, but I just don’t see what he’s exceptional at in senior football. He's looked a little bit lost at times when he's played, but at the same time there's the occasional nice bit of skill from him. We’ll obviously never know, but any of our first team squad would have improved Sheff U significantly in my opinion.I don't think any of our players would have stood out in that particular Sheffield United squad.
Alas, I think Guardiola was scarred by the game at Vicarage Road in December 2018 and it's influenced his substitution policy ever since.
I don't think he will either, alas. It's all rather Groundhog Day, with the same players squandering opportunities and the same old tired legs doing more and more running. We’ll obviously never know, but any of our first team squad would have improved Sheff U significantly in my opinion.
Anyway, I don’t think McAtee is getting many minutes this season.
