It is finding them at this stage is the huge sticking point. If we do have a generous budget it is better to give the new DoF the best chance possible rather than use a chunk this season. We will still have the appeal even without being in the Champions League for a short spell.

Even Championship level is pushing it for this season. Perhaps in the summer start to look at adding a couple for the depth and see if they can make the step up.Agree with this, January should be substance over style, lets get a DM or two that is efficient, even if it comes from the championship.

They can forgo one season or at stretch two without being in the Premium Competition. We did it the first time no reason why we can't do the same again.It's not just about attracting players, it's about being in the premium competition. City should be in the Champions League. I'm not interested in the Europa and neither should any other fan be. We have barely spent anything in recent signings compared to our income, so go spend some money to make sure we stay in the premier European competition.

I am a believer that we should buy the best young talent in the Championship for the EDS/first team squad every January, most will not succeed but you only need 1 in 3 for it to be a fantastic success, and it gives a boost to fitness levels at a time when some are lagging. Got know idea of what are spending is going to be in January, but we should buy only what is necessary, as bloating the squad will cause problems in the summer.Even Championship level is pushing it for this season. I rate him, but I’d argue Harwood Bellis has more potential and would be cheaperHow available is Angel Gomes in January? Well impressed with him in the u21 Euros and his England appearances. Played with Phil in the England youth teams all through his Childhood. English, home grown and technically excellent.
His diminutive stature the only downside but he seems to have developed a nice nasty streak recently. Wharton and Zubimendi other players I like for the midfield
Milos Kerkez, Leif Davies, Tino Livramento all good young full backs. Ola Aina another more experienced option.
Branthwaite is class and I reckon you'll never get him cheaper than this January. Jonathan David is quick skillful scores goals and is out of contract in the Summer.
Any of those I've mentioned could come in and make an instant impact imo. Go and get a few of them.

Absolutely,we won't be signing himRather than run risk of being called a "nonce" I would say we can do better than Anthony Gordon.
We attracted the likes of Yaya Toure , David Silva, Mario Balotelli, Vincent Kompany, Edin Dzeko and Robinho without Champions League Football. There is no desperate need for this season to overspend in landing any target. Summer is an entirely different situation. We may end up having to do so.
The money we paid them was cray cray tho

We shouldn't be facing that prospect though, that's the point. We need to be investing whatever it takes to remain in the top competitions and challenging for them. This is a different City to then. A new stand opening ready for big European nights against teams from Lithuania and Kazakhstan...not what the club should be accepting of.
I don't believe we are that far away from being the best again. It's only a few players. We might not be able to resolve the issues in January as you say, but we have to be trying to even if it costs a bit more.
