United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Tough, because the lack of positioning, poor passing and half-hearted tackling, was spineless at times.

Agreed.
Achieving 3 points, when 1 nil ahead at bloody home to a frigging dire rag team, with just minutes to go, and being mightily pissed off with losing, is not 'embarrasing " It's reality, especially after a loss like that.

Pep hands are tied right now
5 or 6 players should be benched and somebody else playing but Peps has nobody to turn to and players are playing because nobody else is fit enough, Pep can not go in and roast the players really

We Need Something BIG to happen Good or Bad, Reactions happen in both and we need to clear the air and take the pressure off the Club and Fans, Pep may feel he needs to walk away or the club feel he needs a rest and let him leave

I said after the Juventus game the next 4 league games would be key to everything that happens in the Jan window
We need to be still in the race for a top 4 place and then our season could be saved, But after today I feel where is our next win coming from and Villa away we could be 8th or 9th

Pep is far too good of a manager to be letting this happen, in fact, does he want the sack because he knows the only way he leaves is if he can not do any more to improve this squad and gets the sack
For starters he can be playing esbrand/ wright /macatee/ oreilly etc and he would be getting alot more sympathy from me

They are all those things and clearly on the wane - but should gave been good enough and experienced enough to see that out.
Manager didn't help things when needed also.

Can that not be the case without resorting to calling the players spineless?

All three goals today were down to luck rather than skill really. Big result for amorim as it was a brave call leaving out the two social media show-ponies, but it paid off for him. Sadly, the rags have probably got themselves a decent manager there.
They were absolutely shit... which makes it even worse

They had 3 chances in the whole game and scored twice

Their first was gifted to them from an aberration by some wanker who disguises himself as a professional footballer

The second came about because as soon as they got the first we crumbled as we've suddenly become mentally weak midgets (just like the Feyenoord match). You just knew straight away they were gonna get a second even though there was 2 minutes left

And what the fuck was Gvardiol doing stumbling along the line like a sunday league pub player. FFS man just put your foot through it and clear it

Absolutely fucking shambolic

LOL not at all. I think there's been some serious lapses at strategic level at the club for a couple of years and it's going to take some time to sort out. The players we're putting out at the moment simply aren't good enough for the things we want to achieve. Sitting behind your keyboard and calling them a bunch of spineless fucks is frankly embarrassing.
I called them out at the game as well. I don't know if you were there or not and I'm not calling you out if you weren't, but you see so much more live than you see on the TV. You see more of the body language, and the desire to win a 50/50 ball or close an attacker down.

But I do agree, and have been saying myself, that there have been serious shortcomings at the top level. Someone at the game today told me their pal worked at the club around the time of the takeover. Garry Cook called everyone together at Carrington and said that the plan was to win the CL and several PL titles by 2025. We've done that, but it's not clear that we reevaluated our strategy in the last few years. We've rested on our laurels and are seeing the outcome of doing that.

I've speculated there's more focus on CFG than on City itself. Txiki has admitted the failings. There's even question marks over Pep's ability to motivate these players. This is why this situation feels different and more dangerous than previous rebuilds when we've had to replace the likes of Kompany, Fernandinho, Silva, Ageuro and others. We actually did that and got even better but the replacements in the current crop look distinctly second rate. If we don't start getting it right, it could be a long road back.

Oh for gods sake the state of this

We got four points with Ortega in nets. Bringing back Eddie so soon hasn't worked. The second goal was like Feyenoord again. He isn't to blame for the slump as the rushing out is covering for poor defending as well. The game was won at one nil.

I honestly think this blip is something Pep and his management team have never experienced before. And they simply don’t know how to handle it. Same goes for most or all of our players.

This will take a lot more than a few decent results or new players to get back where we used to be these last 10-12 years.
I can easily live either a year without silverware or CL qualification. It’s far from that as it is and obviously sentiment is talking after today’s shit-show. But it is silly to believe this is something we get right overnight. We won’t so you better live with it.

So much wrong at the moment. Firstly gonna start with Ederson. Started the season well then his form falls off a cliff. Pep brings in Ortega and I think we look better. So why then make the change back to Ederson. We do need new defenders and midfielders we all know that but Haaland body language and effort today was shocking. Barely broke sweat and pocketed by Harry Maguire. Aguero might have only been 5ft 7in but at least the opposition players knew they’d been in a game. Players needed in Jan and let’s hope we get 4th.
Funny enough I said to my mate mid-way through the second half, oh for a young Sergio. He would have had that United defence on toast.
