Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

It's like he's asking to be sacked. Everything he's doing or more accurately, not doing is displaying the classic "already checked out and waiting for my pay off" mentality. If he wasn't pep guardiola it would have happened weeks ago. It's deeply troubling.

If he cannot change things of his own accord then somebody has to tear into him behind the scenes and force him to get his shit together, whether that's someone in his backroom staff or txiki or khaldoon, somebody.

Yet again he's setting us up in a way that completely exploits our own glaring weaknesses, the opposition don't even need a gameplan at this point because we'll present the easy way through for them on a platter.

You think parking the bus will lead to better results? These players can't play any other way.

You are missing the point . Of course youngsters should be starting that’s what pep did at the start of this unbelievable slump , the youngsters did ok especially at Spurs away in the Carabao but when results and performances continued to get worse he stopped playing the youngsters probably to protect them .
He didn't play them at all after Spurs, McAtee and O'reilly haven't started a game since and haven't played a minute in the league.

Today after the game he said the solution is to bring the players back. The reality is they aren't coming back or if they are they aren't up to speed or returning to quick and getting hurt again. The solution can't be that everything will be good once the players return from injury.

Internally he knows the team isn't good enough. The recruitment hasn't been good enough, the depth (perhaps on him for preferring a small squad) hasn't been good enough and the performances haven't been good enough. For many games (not all during this sour period) the team has been out player and out coached.

The situation is what the situation is, I guess

Our youngsters are not good enough, even if some on here seem to pretend that they are. Pointing out how they started in a game when we were 2-0 down after 25 minutes does not exactly provide a case that they should get more minutes.

He should know that he hasn't been good enough either this season.

A couple played at Brighton away and Sporting Lisbon in the CL ? Then 3-3 debacle in the CL when Pep brought the kids on with 15 minutes to go …..

Maybe it's time to have a conversation about how he's handled youngsters at the club the last year.

Simpson Pusey - thrown out against sporting with the most in form striker in the world for his debut, then thrown out against Brighton, and then never seen again

Bobb - scores winner against Newcastle at saint James park in the final minute with a brilliant individual skill, basically doesn't get a single appearance till the end of the season

Rico Lewis - played in about 10 different roles that he cannot execute, gets left to be blamed for being inevitably out of position until his confidence is totally shut

Micah Hamilton - scores and gets motm on his debut, doesn't get a single minute after that and shipped to boro

Cole Palmer - one of the world's best talents doesn't get a chance in his natural position, played on the left wing (?) and chooses to leave for peanuts, now we're vying for a player in his position

McAtee - after 2 successful loan spells gets brought back and doesn't even get a single chance to show what he's got even during a big injury crisis when everyone is playing like shit

Not even mentioning the likes of delap, lavia and Morgan Rogers who didn't get a chance and are now flureshing

Yes, you can say these players didn't show enough in city colours to impress, but it's also a managers job to set them up for success, to have a career path for them to succeed at city, and he inevitably cannot get the best out for them. That's a point he needs to improve on.
Conversation seems even more pertinent now...

Neither McAtee nor O'reilly played a minute against Sporting nor Brighton, McAtee came off the bench against Feyenoord and that's the only minutes he's had since Spurs, Simpson Puhsey is the only one who's gotten a couple of starts and he wasn't any worse than Walker, Lewis or Gvardiol.

Yeah like Palmer, Lavia, Rogers, Delap... all shite.

Those late substitutions were shocking. Doku could have been on a half time with Cash on a yellow. Always too little too late
Doku hurt his dick the previous night didn't you hear ?

I'm not suggesting we park the bus but playing a high line with man for man pressing when we don't have anybody that can run is complete suicide. We've shown that every single game for the last few months, our opponents are very, very easily exploiting it and we are getting zero benefits out of it. We don't have the energy to put on an effective press, we don't have the midfield legs to cover gaps and we don't have the pace to cope with balls behind, I couldn't think of anything worse we could do right now than continue to play in this manner.

Scrap the abysmal press that leaves us wide open and at least make the opposition work to get a chance. Drop to the halfway out of possession. Go compact and press as a tight unit instead of sending 5 players into a token press that hardly ever results in a turnover and never results in a goal and is laughably easy to bypass and then leaves us defending almost every attack with between 3-5 players at most.

I also don't think the possession plan is doing anything, we can't break a side down so what good is 60-70% possession? We have the players suited for a more direct game we've got wingers, we've got kdb and foden behind the best striker on the planet, all those players can play and I'd argue thrive in a direct, quick attack over the slow ponderous one we currently opt for.

Maybe we still lose games but I just want to see an effort to remedy the massive problems we have and not simply repeat the same tactic that doesnt work and essentially rely on us being perfect, the opposition making mistakes to let us in and them also failing to successfully mount a meaningful attack all game despite all the space in the world afforded to them.

fuck off. just fuck off. the personnel are there. you're misusing them.

Lol he rushed an obviously injured John Stones instead of playing Simpson Puhsey, and then he has the audacity to complain about injuries, he's just trolling at this point.

Can't he stop saying give me back my players the players clearly aren't even trying what is gonna change if they are back ????

A fantastic test for Pep now.. A problem he has never encountered before.. Exciting to see how he turns this around..

Absolute wank. We had 4 players missing from the squad, rodri isn't coming back this season so forget that. Bobb who I rate extremely highly has a grand total of about 10 minutes experience, Nunes he doesn't want to play in his position and even drops him from the side when he's winning player of the month so he clearly doesn't rate him, that leaves just dias. Who thinks we would have somehow won that game today had Dias been on the pitch?

He is directly responsible for the small squad, it's his preference to have no options, he wanted this, he hasn't got a leg to stand on when we lack options with minimal absentees.
