If the rot continues what happens ?

Or, a copy of "Why not try playing right footed wingers on the right, and left footed wingers on the left - An idiots guide to going past the fullback without having to cut back onto your favoured foot".
Fascinating read apparently, Grealish, Doku and Silva have purchased copies to give him on Christmas Day.
Exactly what Nigel Gleghorn was suggesting on the GMR commentary v Villa on Saturday
..I tend to agree..

Pep simply needs to be pragmatic.
He hasn't been for the last 8 years and has won 6 out of 8 titles so I'm not going to criticise him that much. All I will say is we are in a rut and if Pep was to be more defensive minded and hit on the break more the problems would melt away.

Do we currently have the pace in midfield to hit teams on the break?

Been going at for 15 years at City for most games.

Boxing Day 2009 in fact Petrov Right and Beano Left. It has been predominantly inverted wingers since then if actual wingers have played since then. I know David Silva played on the left a lot in the early days but he wasn't a winger.

Pep knows 200% more than the fuckwits that post on here
Merry Christmas
That doesn't mean that he should be blind to any deficiencies in the current team/squad, or that we, the fuckwits, can't be critical of his decisions. Should we be accepting of his, currently, rather poor process?

Pep delivers titles and trophies and is the greatest manager there has ever been who changed football tactically forever. Every football club in the world tries to copy his ethic and ethos .
Minions and wannabes just post shit on social media but couldn’t manage a fucking raffle this is the pathetic world we live right now .
Know your fucking level Merry Christmas

The process isn't poor. Out of the 12 games, statistically speaking we should have won 9 of them. The tactics are not the problem.
We're having more possession, more shots, higher xG, more chances created, etc in almost every game.
We're conceding due to individual errors. There's nothing wrong with what tactics were using, they are doing their job

This is the problem as a FOC I have of the modern game.

We have been utter gash, we can have 99% possession but if you don't put the ball in the back of the net it means absolutely nothing and in reverse the opponents can create one chance and take it.

The only game we won against Forrest we were incredibly fortunate, if Woods score that simple chance then we for me would have lost another game.

The rag defeat was an embarrassment, two shocking errors but once they equalised did you ever doubt the outcome?

Villa should have been one up in the first 30 seconds.

Can't disagree. Score more than the other team, what it's all about really.

That's the feeling I get. Without being particularly inspiring we haven't been completely outplayed in many games. But if any team can't score, gives away stupid goals and then lacks fitness and confidence, they will be losing a lot of games. It will come good again in the next month.

Happy Christmas to you and yours, btw.

We're talking about different things.
Statistical dominance is about probability. It means if you run that exact game 10000 times then who is the likely victor. In 9 of those 12 games, we were better statistically than the opposition. This means that the tactics employed are working because the job of tactics is to do that.

You're talking about events in hindsight. This generally relies on a single player scoring or missing or mislaying a pass or whatever. Now that's perfectly fine and legitimate but it's a view based on memory rather than probability. This is where player performances come in.

It's the difference between saying its hot today and the 5 year average temperature has risen by 2 degrees. Neither are wrong and neither are better, they're just two different lenses to look at the same problem. In essence I'm talking about leading a horse to water and you're talking about getting it to drink lol

No it's not, simple game, simple logic.

Put the ball in the net more than the opponents.

Against Villa they and for that matter most teams we play are happy for us to have the ball because at this time we are no threat, easy to defend against and have an underbelly so weak and soft it will only be a question of time before we make a mistake and concede chances.

The only game I though we looked good in was Brighton away, superb first half with a very poor first 11 but once the legs went and the older players were struggling, Brighton came back into it and in the end won comfortably.

Our lack of legs, fitness and energy is shocking and now our confidence is utterly shot, as we witnessed with the first 30 seconds of the game at Villa, the back pass by gvardiol was one of a player utterly void of confidence.

Interesting comments from KDB about stats, ie pass completion.

Elite players passing a ball to their own players is not something to be proud of, playing a ball through the eye of a needle to create a chance is a gift that can't be taught, but those players stats are often poor, but poor for a reason, they take chances.

With this present run we are witnessing elite players that are scared to lose the ball, scared to hit the ball in early to Haaland and are reluctant to hit a ball and "have a go"

The problem with football is, the stats genuinely can lie, probability is fantastic but people view the game with their eyes and if what they see on the pitch is crap uninspiring football with lots of possession but little to no end result and seemingly lots of chances against us that teams score from every game, that is what it is judged on. I couldn't give a shite about predicted XG and all that sort of stuff, if the predictions were correct all the time there wouldn't be cupsets etc.

Merry Christmas BTW, all I've asked for is 3 points...

XG WTF is that doing in football...

Resist!

If football were that simple, people like Pep Guardiola wouldn't be paid the enormous sums they are. Everybody runs to the infamous Brian Clough quote but it's just wrong. Hundreds of people work in the technical department at the club all in, they're not just there to spaff off. This stuff is important.
