If the rot continues what happens ?

Just had City texting to by my ticket v Everton so ..

From my glass half empty, in fact the glass is missing perspective.....!

Fact is our owners focus has not been on the pitch and Pep cuts an isolated figure right now. The collapse v utd was alarming and as Bernie said under 15s standards.

No top player heads to City until the charges are settled. A significant points deduction could secure the relegation our jealous premier league comrades crave.

The support, lights out pre kick off etc was spot on. Utd were the quietest theyve ever been yet somehow out of nowhere for the second season running we have ignited their season. Their manager is fully engaged ours cuts a lonely figure while Khaldoon clearly has other priorities.

A full reset next season is now 100% needed but until we know for sure which division its in we all need to take the stick we all hoped wed left behind with Alan Balls era.

Not sure any tourists will want packages for Blackburn, Preston , Sheff Wed home or away , as this is the very worst case scenario so be it.

Oh and finally xxxx the half and half scarves next season .

Posted this elsewhere - but probably more apt in here.

Had managed to get the sister's kid, living on Murkyside to support City and had got them seats for Boxing Day. Just had the call to say they can't make it - hmmm - I know we're not keen on glory hunting/fickle fans on here and some will be happy when we're back to our 26-28K hard core fanbase - but it's probably indicative of how not only the team will drop-off.

We obviously wouldn't be in the position we were in & completely bereft of confidence without Rodri. The guy is a footballing colossus.
Rodri is the main guy, no doubting that.
He would take a lot if the pressure off our defence but our lack of fit defenders, ageing squad, small number if players to choose from and some ridiculously bad decisions on the pitch.
Hang out for another 2 minutes yesterday, finish out the game in champions league when 3 nil up, legs ran off us in several Premier league matches etc
Its not just Rodri missing, the team itself as you say are bereft of confidence

To do what? The title, top 4 or rebuild for the next few seasons.
We have to remember that when Pep first came in we finished 4th the season before and then 3rd in his first season. That was the start of this cycle and now we're at the end. Pep is now back at a similar position to day one. He inherited a spent team which had already been on a 5 year journey since Mancini had first walked in.

There's just nothing in the tank anymore and Neville was 100% correct that they've all now hit a wall where they're giving 90% instead of 110% and that's not enough to win trophies. We usually have a bad period like this every year but usually the strong characters drag us out but this time there's no-one around who can and wants to do it.

We need a rebuild and refresh because the spine of the team is clearly gone or going. Look at Gundogan, he was absolute world class when we won the treble but he went away, came back, and now he's a shadow of what he was.

KDB is out of contract in 6 months so he's not going to give 100% and others like Ederson are probably already on their way out. If it wasn't for the £250k a week then some of them would have gone last year. This isn't anything against those players, they've done more than enough, but we have to face the reality that some haven't got it in them to do it all again.

The second question is whether this is the end of Pep's cycle too, not because he can't do it but because how can we expect him to do it all over again? The guy will always be the greatest manager that we've ever had and he gave us the best seasons that we've ever had. He doesn't deserve this pressure, he deserves a rest and he should be on a golf course.

I think ultimately the club have got stuck in two minds. For the past four years and beyond we have had unprecedented success. The most successful English club side in history, you cannot debate facts!!

However the club have got caught up in the success and when we should have changed the squad more and mixed it up we just haven’t. Now hindsight is a wonderful thing but if we are all honest most of us would have had a problem and been unhappy over the last 4 years if we had let certain players go even if it was the right thing to do.

It’s the same with regretting letting players go. Now I personally have always thought that we should try our youth players more than we do and never wanted us to sell Palmer or Lavia but you can’t complain when you still win the league and I didn’t for one minute expect we would be languishing in 5th whilst Chelsea are second with our former coach and 4 of our youth team players in their squad.

I guess the long drawn out point I am making is that the club acted like a sentimental fan while we winning every season when we should have acted efficiently and looked to the future much better than we have done.

I must be honest to myself though I would probably have done the same because these players are legends of the club for what they have achieved. And now we are stuck in a run that 9 out of 10 teams would have sacked their manager but he is the greatest manager we have ever had and possibly ever will so now we are all confused because we want things to change but also don’t want things to change at the same time.

My head is fried
Said exactly the same things last night.

Tough call to replace and make hard calls on players who have done so well for us, consequently this has led to where we are currently at, so I can live with a shit season if it means the management can now make those tough calls and completely revitalise the squad.

If we were just bimbling along, then would be easy to think just needs a tweak here or there, so I’m drawing positives from how shit we are in that no one is under any illusion that the squad needs major surgery and a few players sent to pasture.

Is what it is, we go again.

Well it pissed me off then and I mentioned it on here a few weeks back. League and FA cup double beating them in the final as well, would have been marvellous.
chance of a double double which has never been done before yet the players were allowed to get hammered on the parade and half of them if not most arrived at that final hungover , totally unprofessional imo the parade shoudve waited until after the final

A lot of kids support, supported Ronaldo, Messi, Haaland, Grealish, they are naturally fickle. Just getting Palmers name on my brand new Chelsea shirt!
