The show us your cat thread.

Sergio strolled home at 2am this morning! 10 days outside! As usual, sat there demanding food as if nothing had happened

I managed to trap him inside the catio by creating what can only be described as a wallace and gromit contraption involving rope, door handles and an open window!

Within minutes of being home he was back to his usual self
If only he could talk and say what he'd been doing.

Typical cat. They are noncholent masters of the universe.
Edit: I had several goes at spelling ‘nonchalant’ finally looked it up.

Glad he's back. feels like someone might have fed him if he's normal.

Really good news . I think we wont agree on this but i think cats should be able to go outside , i think they need to be hunting and climbing trees and the like , all mine have had their collars put on in the mornings , cat flap open, off they go to explore, i taught them all a whistle and a call, every day whilst they stayed in till they got chipped and vaccinated. They all have come back when called and come back every hour to check everythinv is still here , before dark, collars off the cat flap closed and tea, not feeding them before letting them out is key

Obviously it is a higher risk , silva was hit by a car and died but she had seven and a half years of freedom and a full and exciting life , sky nearly lost her tail but lived twenty one years and merlin was having a ball, running up my trees and hunting like mad , often gone for six or seven hours with a couple of visits back to see me , then he got toothache and had the teeth out and decided he liked the attention and the cuddles and has changed to a lap cat from a roamer ! He does go out still but for about twenty mins at a time

Maybe sergio is trying to tell you something or not , you know him best

This is what happens when you visit an animal shelter over the holidays. :-)

Her name is Mari, and as is often the case with black cats, Mari had trouble finding a home. She'd been in the shelter for 6 months until I adopted her.

Mari had a tough beginning to life according to the shelter - she was badly malnourished and sick when the shelter acquired her and her two siblings. But she's very fit now and super friendly towards humans. The only downside is that Mari is a bit bossy towards other cats. I'm hoping that she bonds with my other cats - Sky and Ocean - over time.Mari's Adoption.jpg

Looks like that cats life is going to get many times better thanks to you, lovely looking moggy. It's like a Cat capsule hotel in the background :)

Yes, Mari is gonna love my condo - it's a virtual cat hotel with a climbing tree and and exercise wheel, LOL.

The picture is from the animal shelter just before I drove Mari to her permanent home.

Ours needs to stay in as couldn't defend herself due to arthritis in her spine and only one tooth. I make sure she gets plenty of play time chasing toys round the flat etc. It's funny watching her as she's attacking her mouse and trying to manoeuvre it round to right side where her tooth is lol.

All my cats have been allowed to roam free. One RTA to our current Siamese, a broken pelvis when clipped by a passing car. Recovered ok.

There is always risks to letting them have freedom but i think the benefits out weigh the risks , i love seeing merlin up a tree,he is a tree dweller , always up high ,

he has also started throwing himself from the bedroom window into my russian vine , along the fence , in through the cat flap and back out the window again lol, and there was the time when i saw him dragging something up the garden and in through the catflap, a massive white fish was delivered to my feet! Then there are the three squirrels he has caught and eaten, the first one gave him gut rot and he had to go to the vets , the other two he didnt eat just delivered whole

Since he has changed to a cuddle bug he hasnt been hunting, that bit is a relief but he has had a good time these last four years with me , my garden and the woods out back is a cats paradise, all three have loved it

She knows how claws still work. I put a sweat shirt on with thick sleeves and tickle her belly she gets bag legs stuck into my arm kicking and clawing like mad trying to get my covered arm round to the side with the tooth

Our first cat was allowed to roam free and would come leaping over the back garden fences whenever we came home. But that was in London, she crossed the ocean with us and became an apartment cat except on trips to the in-laws' house in the woods. Current moggies stay inside and have never walked the streets, oldest is 17 now.
Indoor cats live longer so best you keep yours safe, probably got foxes & all sorts down there in Sussex, his life might be a bit less thrilling but he'll grow old with you.

One of our Siamese used to climb into next door through their bedroom window and steal stuff: half a leg of lamb, a slipper, and other things. He often came back smelling of curry which he loved. He was less good at hunting although he did once bring us a mouse, complete with the mousetrap!
Our current cat was a great hunter in his youth, bringing back two ducklings still alive, a pair of thrush chicks still alive and countless voles dead. He just sleeps these days aged 13.

My Cat brought this home with him when he was barely a year home mate. He dragged it over bushes and privets for nearly half a mile and spat it out onto the carpet totally unharmed even though the Duck was 3/4's his size.

The local vet arranged to have the Duck repatriated with his/her family, they knew where it had come from because they had had loads of phone calls with people concerned where the mother Duck had decided home was (On a grass verge) I think the Mother Duck might have been called Chantelle.

WHATEVER!!!

She's lovely, it's exactly what happened to me the last time i visited a shelter. I definitely prefer animals over most people.
