VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

err no, quite the opposite this season. VAR are leaving it to the refs decision and only involved in case of a big error.
using 'woke' for this doesn't make sense by the way.
Yeh autocorrect I actually typed
absolute load of bullshit that’s easily manipulated to bailout incompetent bent referees including the chuckle brothers in the sky studio.

Autocorrect is so woke.

Anyhow, should we scrap VAR and then there would be no bent refs giving dodgy decisions ever again ?

VAR is good for the game, so long as it is implemented in a transparent way.

Shrouding it in mystery, and having the magic hyper subjective get-out clause 'clear & obvious error' is absolutely not transparent, especially when Sky appear to know the outcome of any decision before the on-field official. Amazing how the broadcasters can just gloss over shit decisions, or just not show a clear replay of anything contentious.

They also clear some very tight calls quickly, yet linger over others where certain teams are involved which looks incredibly dodgy even at face value.

Basically, in its current guise it is not fit for purpose because it isn't transparent, and transparency is vital in a competition where refereeing decisions are potentially worth millions for the teams involved, and that's before you factor in worldwide betting markets (both legal and illegal).

Still takes too long
Could see that Solanke was most likely offside with the naked eye last night on the first freeze frame that was shown
Still took a few minutes til play restarted

I’m all for var but being offside by a toenail
And taking 3 minutes to come to this conclusion and the times they don’t put lines up in some situations is a bit suss to me
Just my opinion of course but I got over dodgy decisions far quicker back in the day.

What has happened to the game we all loved
Micro managing and dissecting almost everything. The game as we knew it has gone full woke.
Let alone VAR. We have players diving, cheating, the ball blatantly going out off the player and he still puts his arm up and claims “our ball”, pathetic. Pulling each other back, pushing each other all the time, it’s more akin to a wrestling match at times than a proper football match. The whole football league/Premier League needs a top to bottom shake up and getting it all stopped to get back to proper football. Or am I asking to much?

Clear dive from Havertz against Man Utd, never ever a penalty.
I’m glad there’s no VAR as it highlights why it’s needed.

Players all diving and cheating as they know there isn’t VAR.

See plenty of pens given when a player has dived as the PiGMOL operators will say there wasn’t enough to overturn the onfield fuck up
Madley is worse than his brother which is some achievement

How utterly refreshing being able to celebrate goals properly.
Beautiful and just goes to show how unbelievably shit and unwanted VAR is.

Course they do. They dive and cheat all over the pitch.
Think you may just have missed the irony in my post!
Blue hammer thinks the players dived today knowing there was no VAR.
And that, ergo, players won’t dive knowing there is VAR.
which you and I know is absolute bollocks - bit like VAR really!
