Positives

It was a great game and fair play to Brentford for their Tony Book tribute and the way they play the game. No fake injuries, no dirty fouls. Cracking stuff from them.

Us - first 20 minutes - absolutely diabolical. A woeful start to the game and should have been 1-0 down at least before we got going.

At that point KDB took the game by the scruff of the neck and woke us up from our slumber. Superb stuff from him,

From then until half time bar the odd scare we should have been in front. Woeful finishing. What is Nunes doing when he has a clear shot? That guy is brainless at times.

Second half. Some great play from us to go 2-0 up. Great pass from De Bruyne for the goal and a good finish from the previously invisible Foden.

Savinho on fire and goal number 2 comes along. Bit fortunate. Last min blocks and poor finishing from Brentford.

At that point we should win. Just flood the pitch with defensive minded players. Go down injured. Game management…..No why do that when we can still bomb forward when we don’t need to? Absolutely shite game management from Pep and the players.

In the end lucky to win thanks to Ake.

Haaland trotting about at 2-0 up really pissed me off. Why is Bernado defending a cross at the back post? Why is Savinho still on the pitch at 2-0 up when he can’t defend! Fucking madness. Why is Gundogan getting any game time?

Brentford had 18 attempts to add to the 16 that West Ham had. What the fuck are we doing in training, most of this lot have had 9 days off!

So disappointing from 2-0 up at 82 mins.

How I yearn for the days when we had Nigel DeJong and then Fernandinho breaking down our opponents attacks. If we can’t have Rodri can’t we at least play with a “destroyer “ in front of the back four stopping our opponents playing through us with ease.

I thought we were poor, didn't deserve a point, they were far the better side and could or should have scored a few more. Can't keep the ball, can't defend, can't break teams down anymore and the football we play is slow with no energy, put it simply boring!!!!
Agree. They deserved to win.

Nico O'Reilly is not a left back. He did a job there against Salford, but every time the ball went over the top he had no idea where he was supposed to be. Playing him there against a Premier League side would be suicidal.
Of course he isn’t and I wouldn’t dream of playing him there for any real length of time. However, he would have helped that side out at the end of the game more than Bernardo & Savinho managed.

Brentford were on the verge of a 4th successive home defeat tonight. At 2-0 the crowd had given up, yet you just knew they would find a way back into the game. There is no leadership in the City team at the moment. We need someone who gets angry and demands more from his teammates. City didn't have anyone like that. There is only Dias with leadership qualities.

Prior to there being any goals tonight, some of Brentfords chances were due to some unbelievably poor play by City. We can't even do the basics and play ourselves into trouble on so many occasions.

Foden got his goals tonight but that shouldn’t mask what was otherwise a piss poor performance. Lack of effort off the ball this season from himself and Silva is verging on the unbelievable. Standards have dropped alarmingly.

I can’t defend players like Akanji, Walker, Lewis, Gvardiol for all the fuck ups at the back but they are getting absolutely no help from our midfield.

We have lost any sort of a press in midfield, when we lose possession we just seem to accept it.
I'd give anything for a prime Fernandinho, De Jong or Gareth Barry.

we need a bit of a bruiser in midfield to win the second balls.i think thats the main problem we are losing too many loose balls and getting countered on

I feel sorry for the kids, especially McAtee.
Silva legs have gone but he starts.
Gundos legs have gone but he's the first sub on.
Pep is blinded by loyalty.

From the moment Gundogan came on how many were clock-watching like me, It's funny how you could see it coming and we should have lost that's how bad it was, I am not buying into the players who have played too much football and are tired and fatigued ? most of them have not played for 10 days and had time off.

One key injury should not hamper a season ? Players are ghosting and getting away with it and just going through the motions in games, Did we really Press ? Did we really put in tackles ? Did we really want it badly enough
No lack of effort. Just too old and overrun in midfield again. We need more energy and younger players.
