Brentford (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Still preparing bids with pretty ribbons on and a letter in the box saying Dear Eintracht Frankfurt we bid £ 5,000,000 for Marmoush do you accept?
And looking to improve every position bar the most glaringly obvious hole which is in midfield.

I know transfers are complex but how can we not be in for some kind of midfielder even on loan?

I thought the front 5 in the starting 11 looked excellent when i looked at the teams.
But smacks of trophy laden players without any fight regardless of the ages in their careers.
Tired?
Then tell the manager you are, and just maybe we could play some lads who aren't.
Pep stays loyal to players that have done the business in the past, which is a major worry.
Pep is the greatest manager this club as ever had, but i worry the arrival of 'fresh blood' in players might not even change his structure

Brentford were on the verge of a 4th successive home defeat tonight. At 2-0 the crowd had given up, yet you just knew they would find a way back into the game. There is no leadership in the City team at the moment. We need someone who gets angry and demands more from his teammates. City didn't have anyone like that. There is only Dias with leadership qualities.

Prior to there being any goals tonight, some of Brentfords chances were due to some unbelievably poor play by City. We can't even do the basics and play ourselves into trouble on so many occasions.
Worth adding some context to this stat. Yes, they'd lost 3 games in a row at home, but those were against Arsenal (3rd) and Forest (2nd) in the league, with their reserves losing to Plymouth in the cup. They've also come off the back of a 5-0 away win last weekend.

They're a fantastic side at home.

Pep might be thinking he will go back to the days when he never made substitutions.

We seem to collapse every time we do. We need a DM this month badly and Dias back alongside Ake.

Gvardiol was poor so put Nico on for Erling to play WB in from of him Jack for Kev to hold the ball up and do what he does best, 2 suggestions Just fresh legs not Gundo Pep is so obsessed with Gundo he would put him on in a wheelchair

And like I said I don’t get how either of those would have stopped their goals from happening. The same
Gaps would have been there and the same players who had brain farts to give the goals away would have been too.

Can I remind you we gave up a 3 goal lead at home to Feynoord a matter of weeks ago? This was hardly an anomaly defensively.

Defending and clean sheets always matter it’s how titles are won.
We’ve also gained more points from a losing position than any other team in the league
Swings and roundabouts

Unjustified faith in Gundo again I'm afraid and Bernie just shouldn't be out there given his form. Pep living in the past.
Disagree on Bernardo, think he's covering for absent Rodri along with everything else he normally does for us.

Gundo was bizarre, at that stage you need legs and energy. We weren't 3 up against a team that was beat. There was still work to be done, a lot of it and he left knackered players on and took off the wrong ones.

Foden had been quiet then scores 2 and gets hooked, wtf was that about?

I know the subs will be blamed but ultimately we drew that because of Akanji switching off twice.

Last 4 PL games unbeaten... same as the Dippers...

Lets stay positive, there was a lot of good stuff tonight and reinforcements are coming.
Yep we need them quickly. It’s obvious we can’t close a game without decent midfielders coming on. Doku for Haaland for me not Gundo. And that back 4 apart from a fit Ake never looks comfortable in the last 10. Akanji and Gvardiol are not even upgrades to Laporte. Savinho looking better but needs to pass not shoot.

The already insufferable McAtee fanclub (already pretty much as bad as the Palmer one) got what they were constantly wailing for with Pep bringing him on to supposedly "control the game"

He then proceeded to miss a sitter just before Brentford equalise.
That's what you took from 95 minutes of a game. Lay the blame on a young player only allowed 8 minutes !
Unbelievable.
He brought Gundo on to supposedly control the game.

Just get a couple of energetic, physical midfielders signed.

Gundo needs to retire gracefully, Nunez needs fucking binning. Absolute shite.

Do those things and we’re sorted, it’s all we need.

....or 8 from the last 4 ?

I know which I prefer.

Brentford are a difficult game at home, a point is no disaster.

I thought we played well for long periods of the game, but we tired badly in the last 15 minutes, didn't make the best decisions team wise, but we had the chances to win, a Savinho pass to Haaland 3-0, a Nunes shot, clean through, 1-0 up early on.

I thought it was a brilliant game to watch, and fair play to Brentford for keeping going at 2-0 (well all game really), the result was about right, 3-4 weeks ago we'd have lost 3 or 4-1.

I'm taking the positives from it, I hope the players do.

our 8 from 4 was leicester, west ham, everton and brentford. dont say brentford are good either - they’re 10th and were 16th last season. the others are relegation fodder.

desperately need to beat ipswich and then hope and pray new signings reinvigorate the place because the top 8 sides are going to pull
our pants down

Not happening at the minute though mate..
Not this season.

Needs adjusting.

Everybody just has accepted a bad season and minimal damage as possible (4th place)
The biggest hate is top-level footballers' ghosting games or being allowed to ghost games without being questioned

It's Painful to watch and why in horse racing a top-pedigree horse is put to stud instead of being asked to keep on racing
