Last Film You Saw

Watched Tenet again. Bonkers and hurts your brain if you try and work out what's happening, but I think it's a brilliant film. Classic Nolan signature.
8/10.

Have they fixed the sound yet? Watched it in the cinema and couldn't understand a fucking word

As far as I know 12 angry men ( a classic in mho ) is on sometime this week, but I'm fucked if I remember what day or channel "I'm 126 you know" eh"?

Longlegs on Amazon Prime.
I enjoyed it, but, I can see why it didn’t chime with others.

It’s a Silence of the Lambs/satanic serial killer style film, nothing wholly original on the surface, some interesting choices of camera angles, colour palette & visual identity (& the soundtrack has an underlying discordant tone that made me feel quite uneasy I think that might’ve been the point )
Storyline & ending was telegraphed, while certain interesting elements went under developed.
It’s more style over substance if I’m being perfectly honest, but it has that underlying oddness & is there something going on in the background? vibe that kept me watching.

Both Nicolas Cage & Maika Monroe have done better genre films ( imho)
If you want a less unhinged Cage:
Mandy is a better fit ( but it does have a bloody chainsaw fight, & superb soundtrack)
It Follows, for Monroe is also a creepy Carpenteresque low budget indie horror (great soundtrack too)
Watched this last night. Its in my worst films ever list. Boring and stupid.

He doesn’t allow the actors to re-record sections of dialogue, which most directors do. He says it takes the impact away from the actor’s filmed performance. I actually mostly agree with that BUT don’t throw pointless background music over every scene - it’s overkill. It’s supposed to be used to guide the viewer but if it’s constant I find it’s treating me (the viewer) as a bit of a moron.

Sorry could you please speak up? I've my radio blaring.

1st time watch for 1975s "The Man who would be king" with Sean Connery, Michael Caine and Christopher Plummer directed by the acclaimed John Houston. Rousing and absorbing story of two ex- army chancers at the time of the British Raj. Some of the epic scenes may be considered borderline racist today but the final frames still pack a heavy punch. Good 7/10+
Great film that

Hot Fuzz

My favourite from the Cornetto trilogy. One of the best comedies in the past 20 years.

Pegg and Frost have fantastic chemistry. For fans of the film, definitely check out Edgar Wright’s comedy series, Spaced.

Day of the Jackal, after watching the tv series thought I’d give this a whirl it’s years since I’ve seen it, bloody hell everyone smokes, it’s like an advert for Benson and Hedges, good film although looks very dated however it does have tits in it so that’s a plus, 6/10.

Yesterday I watched The Swimmers on Netflix. Very good and thought provoking.
Then I watched the original True Grit. Must be 40 years since I last seen it. You forget how good John Wayne was at these roles. Didn't realise either that he was in the 1st Star Wars film.

Learn something everyday..

Get Away (2024)
Nick Frost and his family go on holiday to a nice quiet Swedish island. Shenanigans ensue.
Not what I expected.
7/10 (maybe, no idea how to judge it).
