PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Rangers are also a strange comparison. Without knowledge of exactly what happened with the rest of the clubs which FMA has mentioned, Rangers as a club went out of business and ceased to exist so of course their (former) players could "leave" for free as they were no longer attached to any club, ipso facto. You can't lump together a bunch of clubs where different things happened to each which resulted in different consequences.

(@gordondaviesmoustache , did I do it right btw??)
I’d have been a bit more strident, but yes! :-)

If Real Madrid could afford his wages, he would have been off there in a heartbeat. But only Saudi Arabia could afford him, and he aint going there at the tender age of 24. City have paid him the sort of salary that 3 decent players could earn at a top club, and nobody else is ever doing that, with the current sanctions.

They really aren't taking this well over at swamp central :)

Just a casual reminder that Real Madrid paid Mbappé a £120m signing fee and an annual wage of £32m.

Barcelona were paying Messi well over €100m per year a decade ago.

They've got some really weird - dare I say RAWK levels - takes over there. One bellend when Pep signed his latest deal said it was because City have dirt on him, meaning he had no option but to extend his contract ffs!

Haaland extension because of a potential transfer ban? I'd take it, but either way it was always going to be something like that (or a fine) rather than relegation and loss of trophies.

Sorry to all the lurking rags, dippers and gooners, stay humble you bunch of unlovable twats.

The way I am reading this is that the EPL is as good as finished and is to be set back to just another euro league along with all the rest. It will be replaced with a World Club league and membership to it will be in the early stages by invite only. If a club just wants to leave it then it will be and will just be replaced with another invited club. No promotions and no relegations. A closed league something like the American sports model. Seems to work well enough for them.

The ‘current sanctions’ bit did make me smile.

Magic Twat isn't buying the perceived confidence.
All an act by the club to make it look that we appear confident, getting our star player and manager to sign new contracts LOL

He was busy sharing his betting slips last night on City to be relegated.

Let’s see how this turns out.......
Nick has lost his shit

Nope, your first post on the subject said “if we are found guilty of fraud”, why would you even say that? IF you think there is even a doubt about that have a look at the ground redevelopments, the transfers incoming and the FACT that the worlds most coveted striker has just signed up for TEN MORE YEARS. Wonder what you were doing before late December, being a family man from Ashton, but only been on the forum a few days and talking about City and fraud in the same sentence? Hmmm
If you were prosecuted of murder, would you not be the slightest bit concerned about a court finding you guilty just because you know you are innocent (you are on trial after all)?
The club and us fans can have whatever opinion we want about how guilty or innocent we are. In the end of the day, if we really are guilty or innocent is more or less irrelevant. What matters is what those who determine the verdict think, believe and how they interpret the "evidence".

One would have some incredible (and naive) belief in the justice system to believe that the ones found guilty always did the crime or that the ones found innocent always was in fact innocent. We are on trial so of course there is always a risk of a negative outcome regardless of how confident the club are of their innocence. It's not the club that decides the verdict.

With that said, it's of course positive that the club seems certain of a positive outcome, that indicates that they themselves are sure they have not done anything wrong. Lets hope this "independent commission" agree!

They are just waking up over there and all there is is the dawn chorus mate, it'll ramp up until it hits X files level conspiracy theories and then they will realise that they aren't the big club any more :)

I’m lost for words mate

I don't know why @Family Man Ashton thinks Juventus just lost all their players for free or paid them to leave, they sold the stars that wanted to leave for hefty transfer fees.
I didn’t say that all players left for free. The most common scenario in a situation like this is that the club and players reach an agreement on a sale, as in the case of Juventus, where the club was forced to sell its top players for far below their market value. My point is that no release clause in the world can prevent a player from leaving if a club is relegated due to fraud.
