City Matters Elections

Hi pal.

Following my paper around reforms to City Matters, the Club agreed that I would be able to sit on the shortlisting panel for the recruitment. I still believe that recruitment should be wholly independent of the Club, but it was a step in the right direction.

Candidates were scored according to the competencies outlined in the City Matters Terms of Reference. As a panel, we were open to having more than two candidates for the Matchday Member voting, but it is fair to say that we had two very strong candidates,
Jeez, you've got a paper round too...busy bloke ;)

Why do they need separate black and Asian reps? Does Asian cover far east like China and Japan? In fact why do we need them at all? More nonsense as usual and no my name is not Trump. Is there one for FOCs as there seem to be more of them these days.
Complete waste of time.

Gives the impression that the “heritage” roles have been created with people in mind.

It’s very silly all that.

What’s needed are:

Season ticket Rep
Matchday Rep
OAP Rep
Disability Rep
Families+Juniors/Family Stand Rep
Atmosphere/football fan culture Rep
Hospitality Rep.

I’m a white male adult season ticket holder, I am no different to a black male adult season ticket holder nor an Asian female adult season ticket holder. But we are all different to an OAP season ticket holder.

Weird categories. I'm a straight white male in my 30's that goes to games, I have straight black male friends of a similar age that also go to games, Why do we need different representation? Neither one of us would suggest we are different enough where football is concerned to put ourselves into different categories. Not against having representation for any and everyone I just don't know the purpose of it in the context of watching football.

Fair play to everybody who puts themselves forward for a role. it comes across as a thankless role that the City hierachy abuses to create the illusion of inclusion when infact whatever they put forward falls on deaf ears unless it was in their thinking already.

The club talks about being more diverse and inclusive, yet where is the role for transgender Blues? I’m offended on behalf of transgendered Blues who want single sex toilets to have a smoke in.

In addition, the Women’s, Families and Under 25’s Representatives terms of governance has come to an end, meaning, we are seeking applications for the following positions:

  • Women’s Representative
  • Families Representative
  • Black and Mixed Heritage Representative
  • Asian and Mixed Heritage Representative
  • Under 25s Representative

They are missng a trick, we also need:

  • Half and Half scarf representative
  • Leaving on 80 mins representative
  • Constantly getting up from your seat to buy some food representative
  • Staring at your phone representative or mixed phone use representative
  • Sitting in the wrong seat representative at your first game

What about spending at least 30 of the 90 minutes in the bar representative?

All valid categories to dilute the long-term ST holder influence.

Why has Citizens Matchday Member only got 2 candidates, whilst Disabled and Hospitality have 3 candidates each? Surely Match Day Citizens would have had many more fans applying to be a Rep than Disabled and Hospitality. Why has the club only picked 2 Citizen Matchday candidates and not 3? Alex.

One less voice gurning at them about matchday prices.
