Nico had an interview where he kept mention how he didn't see himself as DM or something like that, just play the role the manager tells you to.
Think it was Pep that said that Nico didn’t feel confident as a 6 at the moment.

It’s a brand new role to him, to be fair. He’d always been a left back early on and then a second striker.

Think it just shows that O’Reilly isn’t as confident as he should be. You can’t teach that, he just has to realise that he’s got ridiculous potential and trust his coaches.

Confidence will come with experience.

Its Chelsea, not Palmers Chelsea.

Forest and Chelsea are both ahead of us.

We'll never know if we would have won any less with Palmer or Lavia in the panel. Posters in general, aren't saying that the younger players should be definite starters and replacing our best players. More that there needs to be some way of integrating them into the squad, getting enough minutes to prove they are, or are not, a benefit to the club.

I wouldn't say 'there was no reason'. In hindsight, given how many games we lost, it wouldn't have been wrong to experiment a bit more. After we lost Rodri, I wrote that we should rely more on the younger players. So, I understand what you mean. But we wanted to stop the sequence of losses as quickly as possible because we still hoped we could fight for the title. Maybe Pep made a mistake to insist on the most experienced players. My point is that it was far from obvious that O'Reilly would have done better than Gundogan or Bernardo. He might have done better or he might not. Pep went for experience over running power. Again, in hindsight, that might have been a mistake. In real time, given our ambition to compete for the title, it was a difficult call.

There are trade-offs between playing experienced players who have won everything and know the system and playing young players who are hungry and can run but lack the experience and knowledge. You don't seem to get the trade-offs here relying too much on hindsight.
I wouldn’t argue with any of this….however surely after so many games that have ended the same way….a second half collapse, there comes a time where Pep has to accept plan A isn't working and try Plan B …..which is playing either O’Reilly or Wright.

Reading between the lines of Pep's interviews, he seems to think that if he starts the young players and we lose, this might be bad for their confidence going forward. That, or he thinks that he needs very specific things in midfield, running and tackling aside, which Nico and the other youngsters can't offer now. That is, he doesn't seem to agree with fans that we would be better off with the academy players.

We all know he doesn’t agree. He thinks it better for their development and for the team that they sit on the bench.

Nothing new there. He’s the boss. Da boss ain’t always right but he’s always da boss. It is what it is and we should all be so ‘appy.

No worries, mate. It’s just a player expressing preferences and he’s shown willing to get involved any way he can. Just a shame it’s not working out better for him.
Till he has confidence in there, pep isn't playing him imo. The rest just aren't in good enough form to hand hold him unfortunately for now.

He could go before the window closes and I wouldn't blame him. Has looked decent when called upon this season and it's a shame he can't get a chance when our nonsense midfield is as slow and porous as can be.

Love the positivity Nico plays with & wouldn’t blame him for wanting to move on. And if he does will still cheer him on - once a blue, always a blue & all that.

It’s been criminal the lack of opportunities afforded to him in an area we’ve quite clearly been poor.

As others have said, too many excuses for not playing him.

Sure, if he makes a mistakes so be it & he seems of a strong character to learn from them otherwise how else can he get experience without taking the stabilisers off.

Plenty of our ‘experienced’ midfielders have been making poor decisions with seemingly no accountability…definitely on Pep…just give him a chance & a run in baldie!
