Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

They, who ever they are, want us to believe the game is not corrupt and then last night happens.
The reason the ref did not add any time on had to be to save Salford further embarrassment.
That is corrupt.
What about those who had bet on 9-0 or like @richardtheref money on Barrack Mubama scoring 2.
When I 1st started I had a durham county cup game between Barnard Castle Glaxo and Consett Methodist church. Glaxo leading 17 0 so both captains kept asking me to blow up for full time. So I blew on 86 minutes. That week I received a call from the FA advising me that I had been reported for playing short time and the game would have to be replayed next week. Final result 23 0

Due to the score line it will be absolutely ignored but it is worrying. What is the cut off point where the ref no longer decided to follow the laws of the game because one team is losing? There wasn't one additional second.
This is my point. If they are allowed to end the game 'early' to help the smaller team, do they also allow fouls to go unpunished ?
Why stop at a lower division, let's help the lower placed PL teams.
Once you start on this slippery slope Arsenal haven't won the league for years it would be good for the brand if they did etc.
Yes it's a huge leap to believe that but that is the consequence of ignoring simple rules. You are either bent or straight. You can't be a bit bent.

Giggsy had his shirt on 8-0 and a quiet word with the ref . . . !

.....does flexible count mi lord ??

Disgrace!
I was very vociferous at the end of the game yesterday. No integrity. Not even a token 2 minutes.
Should be given a ban. Not the first time I have witnessed this at City.
Referee the game ffs.

That's how Liverpool won it during the covid season, isn't it?

The ref wasn’t too bad but the linesmen on both sides were poor.

As MMD says above^ he did allow too much time wasting by Chelsea. That stupid set move where the goalkeeper rolls the ball to the centre back and the centre back passes it back to him is just pointless, it should be a yellow card for both of them each time it happens.

And their throwins took forever!

The two linesman were poor today though, especially the one in front of the East Stand. He looked lost. He didn’t flag for a clear Chelsea offside and the ball went out for a Chelsea throw-in, and he still didn’t flag. So they got the ball in our half in a situation they could have scored from.

This pisses me right off, far too many times teams gain attacking throw ins, free kicks and corners from linesman not putting their flags up for obvious offsides

In the champions league Tyrone Mings got penalised for what they did with an outfield deliberately putting the ball down when it’s already been set.

Linesmen were poor - either looked at ref as had no idea or just slow at raising a flag for offside. Let Fernandes foul all the game and then booked Kovacic for something that was nothing.

The one on the Colin Bell stand side flagged for a corner when the ball was pulled back and struck Gvardiol despite it being a foot over the line

Let Chelsea time waste far too much and too often before doing anything about it. Was quick to tell Ederson to get a move on late in the game.
Did book Colwill in the 25th minute for it on one of the many goal kicks. Think that's the first time I've seen a ref do that to anyone other than Ederson at the Etihad. Usually happens around the 88th minute if at all.

Yes he booked Colwill early but then took no further action against him even though him and Sanchez carried on with the same time wasting routine for the rest of the game

I believe in saying something when we disagree with refs but I’ve been reading today about Oliver, probably my least favourite ref, having to have police protection for his family, including a 2 year old, because of death threats.
That is diabolical, the man is doing his job and may, or may not, have made a mistake. You do not send death threats for that. You do not send death threats full stop!
It’s a flaming game not war. The individuals who send these threats need reminding that it is just a game.
