Completely agree.
I'm a Cardiff fan who has also followed City since I moved here in 1980.
The Welsh teams in the English pyramid (this also included teams in the non-leagues such as Bangor, Rhyl, Bridgend, Llanelli etc.) were allowed to enter both Cup competitions.
Also English border teams such as Hereford, Kidderminster entered the Welsh Cup which led to the winners entering the European Cup Winners Cup. Obviously this Cup has been replaced by the Europa League & Conference.
This dual qualification was madness and should not be re-introduced, in my opinion...

I can’t imagine the Welsh FA - or the Welsh clubs - allowing any of Cardiff / Wrexham / Swansea and Newport into their Cup competitions yet allowing them to remain outside of their league.
The cup is (or should be) a knockout cup between member clubs. They would be taking the place of a member club in qualifying for Europe so why would the Welsh clubs vote for it?

Agreed, but if the clubs offered a percentage of the revenue to the WFA, I guess they might be tempted.

Asks the question why English League teams such as Shrewsbury and Hereford (as were then), entered the competition ?
When Cardiff City won the FA Cup in 1927, entering Europe would have meant the Isle of Man Trophy ?
 
Bunch of arse. Might as well have Berwick Rangers entering the FA Cup.
The FAW support the idea as there is more chance of Cardiff, Swansea or Wrexham increasing the Welsh coefficient than TNS, Bala or Cefn Druids.
And they could use their own grounds rather than scrabbling around for a suitable venue. TNS have been the best team in the Welsh League for about 20 years yet are playing European games at Shrewsbury's ground. - Not sure if this is because they've reached the mini-league stage as I saw Newtown in Europe about ten years ago and their ground was worse than TNS's.

Don’t European games have to be played in all seater stadiums? Or has that rule been lifted? And yes City and the German stadiums have safe standing, but they have (as does Shrewsbury) rail seating - the rule requires the stadium to be all seated, not that all fans have to be seated and rail seating satisfies the regulation

Not sure about the all-seater rule but it could apply in the mini-league stage. The game I saw at Newtown's ground appeared to have more seats in the snack bar than in the stands, but that was a qualifying round about 10-12 years ago.
