If we are going to be honest and I mean this in the most honest way possible, no disrespect to Jack but our standards started slipping the moment we started going after ball hugging players like him. This just didn't start last season, it's been slowly coming for about 3 seasons now, too much sentiment and holding on to players that should have gone a long time ago. Too many freeloaders
thought jack was motm today never miss placed one pass

I dont think he is tne clear and above best manager in the world any more.

Its normal, for more than 10 years he clearly was, but other managers have learned and caught up and improved.

Why did we play with 2 deep midfielders when we saw the success of the 3 deep players.

Bernie doesnt need to be that high, let him pkay that pseudo CB role that he found success with.

Gvardiol had no license to attack

Yes the players ultimately let him down, but I think he could have set us up better.
Yes I'd let Kova play higher up the pitch since he's scored a few goals this season and play Silva deeper since he creates fuck all these days, but you also need a top destroyer with him and we don't have one, against Chelsea it worked with Gundo there because Chelsea played a suicide high line with no pressure on the ball carrier, stupid tactics that better teams won't replicate.

It’s getting to the point where whatever’s happening off the pitch is gonna be the main theme of the documentary for the season. Too many professionals seem to have checked out. The relationship thing is more important than a job. He needs to walk away for his own health. Should have gone after the manure debacle. Grealish and Phil should be looking at themselves as well. Fucking dog shit this season. This is my opinion before all the tough guys start reminding me of the silverware. I’ve been a nurse for 25years. If I go to work tomorrow and clout some gobby **** I’d still get sacked. The previous 25 matter not.

He really needs to go back to the 2-3 build up shape with 3 midfielders instead of the 3-2.

We are too passive in the 3-2, and the extra midfielder is better support for Kova and Bernie.

He has hit gold with the 235 shape, he even had to use it against Brugge when he fucked up usinf the 325 against them.

Stop switching the system on these players. Use the one that has some sort of proof it works and stick to it.

he needs to handle our players panicking after conceding.. its a theme happened many times this season. conceding goals in quick succession heads drop, panic sets in, instead of cold head and basic decisions everything turns to shit and panic.
Spurs, Feyenoord, Sporting, PSG, Arsenal. conceded total of 20 goals just in these 5 games. unreal and most was in quick succession rather than 20 mins between goals.
add Brighton too from 1-0 up and lose 2-1 or the rags in the derby ffs.

People say it's being ungrateful criticising Pep based on all he's done for us. But those trophies are in the past. It was clear last season that standards were starting to slip but our tenacity & determination got us over the line in the PL.

This season, that's gone. Most players don't look the least bit bothered. I'm not at all clear we've done the right thing with that 2-year extension. We need a clear-out and shake up.

You’re reading the room wrong.

It’s a personal issue and we’re playing with no proper defensive midfielder and a player who isn’t even good enough for his own position at right back. At this level you’ll pay a heavy price for that since the margins are so small, especially in the bigger games vs teams like Arsenal.

You talk of standards slipping last season but we won the league, an all time record accomplishment, and went out to Madrid in the CL on pens after outplaying them for 90 minutes. Standards had never ever been higher for a team seeking a 4th title in a row and following on from a treble.

That team that was out there today is no where near a title winning XI, no matter how hard they try or how much they want it - it’s top 4 at best. The only way this is fixed is with a returning Rodri, a competent back up being signed, a new top quality right back being in place and players like Dias shaking off their run of injuries.

What won’t solve it is buying several young defenders no one has ever heard of in the hope they turn out good in the future. We need proven quality and we need it now. The fact we’re signing the former in the current transfer window probably points to why we’re struggling - the recruitment hasn’t been good enough and it remains an issue.

Not being an arsehole but...

Do other Managers have that luxury or do they adapt the system to fit what they have until they can recruit?

This is nothing new though. This has been happening for at least the past couple seasons if not the whole time he's been with City. The only difference is we were ruthless and putting 3 goals past most teams and they stopped playing to avoid being humiliated.

The lack of changes game to game is the big indictment on him this season. It's a shame because there has been some improvement in terms of earlier subs and the actual player swaps. The way we set up has been found out for a while and getting punished by any team with a competent spine and aggressive wide players.

Pep’s won the title 6 times in 7 years. He’ll win it again in the next couple of years as well.

If you’re looking for a manager which will do better than Pep and never ever have any disappointing periods then you won’t find one because they don’t exist.

Liverpool had 2 similar seasons under Klopp which got swept under the carpet. They were in the Europa a couple of years ago after a very similar season to the one we’re having and they had one the year after winning their 1 title as well.

Now give me the examples of managers you are talking about in the PL and tell me what they’ve won. Tell me the manager who will win the title every single season.

Pep's biggest mistake is underestimating the extent to which the team depends on Rodri.

Currently we have too many players who can play behind Haaland or on the wings: Foden, KDB, Marmoush, Savinho, Doku, Grealish, Bobb, McAtee. Realistically, only 2 of them should play against good teams, if we are to be stable in midfield. 2 from 8 players!

And we have only Kova, Bernie and Gundo: 3 midfielders for 3 places. We may count Lewis too, he highlights the staggering lack of physicality in the middle. The squad lacks balance.

We'll be much better next season. The question is whether we can win something this year.
