They always put Palace at the top as well for some reason?

Apart from their drum and 30 or so lads dressed in black behind the goal, it's absolutely silent there

Yes, it has gone worse, but ours is the one that gets made fun of the most by opposition fans. The thing is I expect United or Spurs etc grounds to be quiet, they’re shit now, and have been for years, so they literally have nothing to celebrate, we’re winning trophy after trophy for over 10 years and it’s still the definitely the worst stadium for atmosphere. Way worse than Spurs, United, Liverpool, even Arsenal. There’s no excuse for that.
Bollocks..
You can hear a pin drop at Spuds Rags Dippers and Arselona most games..
Did you go to the Madrid semi game.. Atmosphere was fucking amazing..even Madrid players said it was intimidating.
League games not as noisy as most teams just sit deep and defend and hope to catch us on the break.. doesn't help to generate a great atmosphere..given a bit of jeopardy then the atmosphere is better.

No. That went to a replay. We beat Coventry 1-0 the day they came into Main Stand. Very late Goater winner

Sit down? At an away game? Fuck me.
Honestly mate .. My usual response to that would be 'if you want to sit down fuck off to the theatre'....
I had to stop my 24yr old from scrapping with some tourist who kept mumbling under his breath.
Contrast and compare Sunday at Arsenal to Leicester a few weeks ago. Chalk and cheese. Leicester is my favourite away away of the season.

Your lad’s anger is completely understandable and of course to anyone who’s enjoyed an awayday down the years the prospect of someone telling you to sit down would be met with firstly amusement then confusion and if they persisted, annoyance

The problem for us is that the insidious creep of tourists into our game means that sooner rather than later we’re gonna reach a tipping point where those of us wanting to stand / sing / swear etc etc are in the minority and the passionless boring killjoys who now attend games will get their way

I agree, but they don’t really have anything to celebrate do they

Most non city fans will tell you our atmosphere is the worst from every big team in the country. City fans say it’s because of huge amount of “tourists” or local fans being “priced out of games” , like how? when most of the other top teams have more “tourist” fans than we do, and secondly the bigger point when it comes to local fans being priced out so that’s why it’s quiet at the etihad, the Madrid game in 2023 was maybe the most expensive ticket I’ve seen for a European game, but that was literally the best atmosphere we’ve ever had. The truth is, the lack of atmosphere at the ground, is not ONLY about the prices, or the out of town fans, its the lack of passion for City by a big majority of our fans, compared to the passion that Liverpool or Newcastle fans have for their club. For them it’s life or death, they’re crazy for their team, for a lot of City fans in the stadium, we don’t really have that type obsession. (Of course we have INCREDIBLE away fans that are mad for it). I remember last season, the last 10 games of the season were average, we were literally still on for a second treble, and atmosphere was poor except the west game game on last day. Sadly, it’s the culture of the club, some City fans were happier to hear Oasis are back together, than for us to win more trophies
Liverpool fans, a matter of life or death you say?

You have never attended a big game in your life if you think the atmosphere is shit.
There is no place like it when it counts.
How many teams have experienced battering Madrid and Bayern in semi finals or winning the league from 2 goals down on the last day.

When we are on it there's nowhere like it. We need up yourselves for the other games

Saying it’s way worse than them is simply so far from the truth we’ve had many great atmospheres at our ground everyone is shit most weeks even the media loving Newcastle, Leeds, is a library most weeks. At our best it’s good better than most in the country imo.

Valverde: "Toughest Stadium? Manchester City stadium, their fans and the way they play, all difficult."

Trent: “The Etihad atmosphere is incredible, it’s intense, we feel it, it’s really good there”

are you a dipper in disguise?

What a load of shite. Anfield is one of the quietest stadiums around, European nights it bumps up, but guess what they also get their crowd going with the pipped YNWA before each game (easy to do eh)

BTW Hamburg at home was noisier than Madrid at home and no tourists.

I still think the Friday night Birmingham City game at Maine Road games was louder than Hamburg with 14k fewer fans in the ground.

20 years ago we had stewards telling us to sit down at away games when home fans were standing in the next block.
