Exactly the reason we are where we are this season. Not united, because they overpay for shit and average shit. But we should try to be like Real Madrid, who pay what it takes to get the best.
If you buy average players because they’re cheaper, then the team will be average. If we want another CL and trophies, we need to buy the best we can possibly get.
Post is from November 2023Txiki wouldn’t be in charge for this if it were to happen though?
I'm struggling to fathom why we seem so scared of spending big money on the very best?Exactly the reason we are where we are this season.
Underwhelming buys the last few years that are a risk.
I don't expect us to go balls deep for Wirtz, Musiala or the likes either.
We will end up with 2 or 3 players that can't get a game at their parents club,.then a few more who no one has ever heard of from South America.
The club doesnt operate in the way it did when we went out and bought in the same season the likes of Laporte, Walker, Mendy, Silva, Ederson, Danilo.

I'd rather have one Wirtz than another pair of Nunes and Philips for similar money.I can't think of another player I'd rather succeed the City legend that is King Kev. The only question left to ask Leverkusen, is how much? As long as they don't start talking Monopoly money, I'm in.
Many thought we were bonkers buying KDB for £55m, but after nearly 10 years of spectacular service & the greatest of memories, that fee now seems like a steal.
Now isn't the time for taking chances, by nickel & diming regarding target negotiations. We need to acquire the VERY best & spend the next year or two transitioning from our legends to hopefully our new legends.
We lost the option of being selective & taking our time over transfers, when we didn't sufficiently strengthen whilst we were on top of England, Europe & the world.
Madrid doesn't necessarily put down huge transfer fees. They often times encourage players to rundown their contract so they can get them on a free or for a smaller transfer fee. They leverage their prestige and brand to get players. This is the level we are building towards. Not united, because they overpay for shit and average shit. The difference is Real Madrid have different clout than ours, most top players will always choose Madrid over us despite paying the same asking prices for players we want to buy.
Yeah we are one of top club in Europe, but that isn't enough apparently by most players who still chasing that Madrid prestige.
And mostly because Haaland has zero intention of going anywhere but City.Because they wanted Mbappe the whole time.
Because they wanted Mbappe the whole time.
They absolutely would of taken Haaland if they could of got him.Because they wanted Mbappe the whole time.
Haaland didn’t think so
That tweet is from November 23 you'd reckon it's €100m or thereabouts now87.5M is a bargain and it will be paid for by Richard Masters, lovely , today is a good day.
didnt even spot the date, they'd want 125m at least. That tweet is from November 23 you'd reckon it's €100m or thereabouts now
Maybe McAtee going the other way as well

that is my guess at the smaller fee. lolOne thing I know about German football is Leverkusen would sell at a smaller fee due to Bayern being involved , they hate each other from the pitch all the way to the chairman and board.
