Decent source, first one to break the Doku to City story. A few other German journalists also said we made contact with them in January. Interest from our side shouldn`t be a surprise as this is (to me) without question the best U21 AM in the world, and the most obvious KDB replacement you could find. Leverkusen would probably prefer to sell him to us over Bayern, but €100m sounds way too cheap. Would be a dream signing but I still have a feeling he goes Bayern or Madrid with Alonso

Doesn't he occupy a similar position to Musiala, though?

I always felt it was one or the other for Bayern.

And Madrid have a ton of options in his position
 
Even if we do manage to sign Wirtz, I just hope we that we learn from the Rodri/de Bruyne experience and do not put all our eggs in the one basket. The risk of injury in midfield is just too high, and in recent years we've had bad spells/seasons when one of those two has been absent and our dependency has been exposed. I'm hoping to see two creative midfielders arrive this summer.

Doubt we sign two with the options we have and the setup the team seems to be taking. Barring more out than we expect (Foden, Marmoush, McAtee, Bobb, Echeverri, NOR all play the 10 and are expected to stay as it stands)

Foden has to be that other creative player by this point. It would just depend on outgoings for me how many new midfielders we will see.
