Florian Wirtz

I think that we, as fans, have to get out of the habit of comparing people to Kevin de Bruyne. The man is a unicorn, and will not be "replaced". It's a disservice to everyone involved to think about it like this. Wirtz is an amazing player, and would love to have him.
Magicians like David Silva would collect the ball under pressure, take a touch, pivot & then dispatch a clinical pass creating sheer havoc.

On the other hand KDB would hit the same ball forward first time with such devastating accuracy, it'd completely flummox & wrong-foot opponents, creating multiple attacking opportunities.

Both techniques are equally as devastating, but Kev's first time, one touch forward passing is utterly unique in world football. I can't think of another player who regularly did this before KDB's emergence or since.

It'll be a sad sad day when he hangs up his boots.

In other teams or just ever since at CITY?
Any team in any period. He's always on the front foot making quick one touch passes, which wrong foots opponents.

Most players will control the ball, survey the landscape & make the pass. Kev has this ability to make the pass with his first touch with laser-point accuracy, which leads everyone to wonder how he saw the pass, let alone made it on the dot.

The man's a fuckin genius & has gotta be up there in City's top three best ever players, alongside Merlin too. Different players, but both are equally as effective.

It's also really understated how fast he moves with the ball when he needs to. The man is not generally thought of as fast, but he is almost as fast as Phil with the ball, and Phil is a burner.

Big fan of this kid, hope he holds fire on a move, Kev's got another season in him before an MLS/Saudi move at least.

2024 - Paq & Neves (losing Silva)
2025 - Wirtz & Echeverri (losing Kev)

Ederson, Gvardiol, Branthwaite, Dias, Lewis, Neves, Wirtz, Foden, Doku, Haaland, Bobb
Potential Post Pep XI
Avg. Age 24.

True, KDB is on a generational talent level, but Ozil was no joke. Ozil was something special, his passing ability was just spectacular. Unfortunately for him, his Arsenal career ended at that note.

Agreed 100%. The other issues for defenders is they don't know if he's running for an attempt at goal, or if he'll just pluck a killer pass out of thin air & unpick them that way. Kev's a seriously special player.

Maybe the Musiala rumours are in full swing because we have heard that he wants out/Bayern are after Wirtz.
