If we sign for the other more important positions (which I said would be 4-6 players), AND THEN if there is somehow funds to get Wirtz. Then we should do it.

But unless some ITK comes out and says there is some crazy warchest in the summer (more than 300m) Im not sure.

Yes we do have the funds to sign him. Obviously not if you think there are 6 players we need more which I don’t agree with at all.

I saw an analytical study of three top European clubs a few months ago…don’t ask me where!

The question that was asked for each team was…

Which player in the World would most improve each of the three teams.

We were one of the three teams. Our player was Florian Wirtz and it wasn’t close.

Of course you are entitled to disagree but objectively the analysis came up with him.

If we could get him we would be crazy not to prioritise him…in my opinion of course. I’m just glad Pep agrees it would seem.

Im gonna have to disagree with this "analytical study" (I dont believe this can be done in regards to a player improving a squad, sounds like fake science).

If we are limited to bringing in one player, the CAM spot is not the area we should improve to make the squad as a whole better.

Well your first comment is entirely incorrect as that is exactly what a data analyst looks for and that’s just the starting point.

Your second point is your opinion. I disagree. I’d love a young KDB in this side and you don’t get closer than Wirtz.

Agree. There is also no correlation at all with a player that has PL experience being more successful than one that comes from abroad. It’s just something that sounds like it should be correct but isn’t.

Strange one from TH and thankfully one City don’t see either.

Disagree again.

I dont think it is possible for a data analyst to make an objective conclusion that Wirtz is the single best inclusion.

Ive been in the research field, there is alot of bullshit "science" out there.

You have no understanding on how to interpret what data analysis is when you make claims of objectionable truths.

I clearly said I don’t remember where I read it. That does not make it incorrect. At a guess it was Statsbomb analysis but I could be wrong.

I am very aware of what a data analyst does and how it works. If you don’t think that data science can produce models to see how the addition of a particular player can affect the performance of the team as a whole you are sadly incorrect. There is of course no guarantee. City’s data science team is one of the best there is and Laurie Shaw et al know what they are doing.

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion that we have other priorities other than Wirtz. I’ve wanted him at City for a long time so I’m glad we are trying for him.

Models can make predictions on what they think to be true. That was never my claim.

You very clearly said the analysis was objectively correct in its claim, and I repeated why such a claim is impossible.

Thats no opinion, no football analyst can do this. I also doubt they did, you mistakenly said that on their behalf Im guessing.

On to Wirtz, amazing player, and if it doesnt interupt the other priority positions, im all for him.

Objectively in that it isn’t a single person’s opinion. Data can be incorrect too, it’s no guarantee but it isn’t just a person’s favorite player. I’m sure you are well aware of how companies like Jamestown Analytics work. This is the type of analysis I was referencing. Apologies if my wording did not convey that. Just disregard it if not. Let’s go with I think Wirtz is the best buy City could possibly make to improve the team as a whole.

I’m glad we agree that Wirtz is an amazing player.

I'm really not sure if people have seen Wirtz play who are posting . Just because he looks to be replacing KDB doesn't mean they have similar attributes. They are entirely different players . Wirtz is a goalscoring , ball carrying 10 who can also create . KDB was a playmaker first.
 
Whoever comes in to replace Kev has massive shoes to fill. Their mentality and ability under pressure should be a key component when we’re scouting them.

Kev’s nonchalance and ability to perform with a level head and/or transfer being pissed off into positive energy for the team is one of his biggest attributes which probably can’t be replicated.

I really don think anyone bis coming in to replace Kev. We'd just change styles a bit. I think the mixture of Phil, Omar, Oscar, Doku and Echeveria are supposed to be that .

Wirtz would be great, but i just don't see it. I think Wirtz moves in the summer and i don't think we are ready to call quits on the ceiling on any of our young attacking prospects in the summer.

Phil, Omar, Doku,, Savio, Bobb, Echeveria are all not at the peak of their potential yet and i dont see us in a hurry to move any of them this summer.
 
I would never say no to a player like Wirtz, but I struggle to see how all these young attacking midfielders are going to get sufficient game time for a very limited amount of spaces. Wirtz isn’t really a direct Kev replacement either.

RW - Bobb, Savinho
AM - Marmoush, Foden, Echiverri (sp?), Wirtz?
LW - Doku, Marmoush

ST - Haaland, Marmoush

Haaland is a shoe in up top, so that leaves three positions for seven players. Wirtz would have to be a shoe in for one of those positions. Savinho has all the potential to be a world beater, Foden has been a world beater and may return to his best next season. We can’t forget about Bobb either. We’re going to be stacked!
