Russian invasion of Ukraine

We've been struggling to recruit in peaceful times, going to get even more difficult now we know what they will be used for
If we end up like 1916 and they start conscripting they arent taking my son to the front line of Ukraine because Zeleknski cant let go of his stubbornness and see the writing is on the wall , he isnt getting Russia out of the land they have taken despite how morally corrupt it will be when they take it permanently

How is the country going to fund that?

I'm afraid our government are going to do a lot of hand wringing and reluctantly go along with imposing an unjust peace.

We're fucked,as regards giving Ukraine any meaningful help once the US pulls the plug.
There have been political proposals to get som kind of ”European Union-loans”, similar to the emergency funding during the pandemic. Don’t know much about it (and I’m not from the UK) but imo you should be allowed to use that too. I know you’re not in the EU, but stopping Russia concerns all of us in Europe. It’s about our freedom and everybody who contributes to that must stand together.

(Can’t wait for our game against Real tomorrow to take my mind away from this stuff, even if it’s just for 90 minutes.)

Zelensky stubborn, Jesus wept

Thinking the UK need to go on a huge recruitment drive in seriously rebuilding our forces including soldiers all the systems to support them. The RAF and navy need bolstering will cost billions. National security is paramount!

Heard this on radio yday.

2010: defence spend £57bn, benefits bill £150bn

2024: defence spend £53bn, benefits bill £350bn

Bonkers.

Use the seized Russian money, that would boil Putin’s piss

Do you think he's the type when it comes to having to concede something , anything to end this madness he will do it or will he refuse and drag out the inevitable? , What Putin has done is deplorable but I just don't see it ending without some form of concession and if that doesn't happen what next?

Two quick questions Where do you think Putin will stop after he controls Ukraine? Who do you think may be his new western European allies when this happens?

All you need to know about how Moscow seeks to play the Trump administration for fools. The U.S. asked russia in Riyadh for a moratorium on strikes against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Lavrov said. The request was rejected, he said, because russia never targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure in the first place.

@yarotrof
Default setting is liar

End all hostilities immediately. Withdraw all forces from the front lines. Involve the UN or some other neutral countries to ensure the ceasefire is being observed on both sides. Conduct a fresh election with international observers.

Just off the top of my head and I’m just some randomer on the internet, so forgive me if I don’t have a fully fleshed out proposal to end an intractable hot conflict ready to go.
Dear me. Are you saying that Ukraine should have an election and if so why?

This shite is what both the US and Russia have been saying recently in the hope that Zelensky loses and a more Kremlin-friendly president is installed, with the odds being increased with the usual Kremlin interference.

And this against the backdrop of a three-year war and with almost 20% of Ukraine occupied!

Unless, of course, you're saying that Russia needs to conduct a fresh election with international observers? And the US too. But I don't think you are. Are you?
