President Trump

Look at how many times Trump squirms when he's asked about Putin. This is a guy who normally just blurts out any old shite and acts the strongman, but he is so cagey when it comes to Putin, and almost afraid of saying anything at all. Subservient like behaviour.

Alarm bells are ringing loud and clear.

Without a briefing from his paymaster, he needs to make sure he does not speak out of turn.

If you look at many f Trump's recent decisions that impact foreign policy, they do seem to be the kind of actions Putin would approve. But with the intelligence services being run by one of his acolytes, he will never be caught

Given the lack of freedom of expression in the UK, and Europe in general, I have no doubt social media would be squashed like a bug by the “authorities.”

You believe this to be a good thing?
There is no lack of freedom of expression in uk, other than a block on hate crime in a poorly drafted law.Give examples.

What is refreshing about Trump is he has done exactly what he promised the voters he would do.

Compare and contrast successive governments over here who have campaigned on the promise to cut immigration. Then the last lot delivered record levels of net migration into the country.

One man’s “hate crime lies”…

As I’ve said, it’s a slippery slope and the only question is which “decider” puts how much grease on the slope?

I prefer personal outrage as a determinant factor. We are seeing it with Musk already. People turning in their Tesla, sales in the toilet, and people with them putting stickers on them!

For example…

There is a parliament which decides limits.

He had done some things he promised but also some that he denied planning.

Afar?

As a frequent visitor with all my remaining family in and around Manchester, plus consuming aLindy as much UK media as US, I’d like to think I can separate some of the wheat from the chaff.

Maybe, you just don’t know what real freedom feels like? For good or bad.
Funny that. Many Americans living here say they feel freer here than in US.

Isn't it Trumps regime that is banning any press organisation that doesnt call it the "Gulf of America"?
Banning? No! Your propaganda has misinformed you again :)

The AP hasn't been banned. They are still at the Whitehouse and attend briefings and ask questions and sit exactly where they've always sat.

However, there are reporters from different media houses that form the press gaggle (an informal press briefing crew) who are allowed to follow the President around for informal impromptu exchanges with the President. Members of different large media groups rotate being part of that gaggle. Its a privilege given by the Presidential team and that privilege has been withdrawn from the AP.

There are no rules that says you should privilege those who you don't like. The AP can join the ranks of every regular reporter and get their impromptu info 2nd hand like all the other media services who aren't part of the privileged gaggle.

Again, we learn something everyday :)

You should hear what the Brits who are here say :)

But as a matter of factual reality, it almost likely the case, you are freer in the States. If we go by the effects of the laws both countries have.

I think what you have over there are people on the left feeling freer because there is greater restrictions on those who disagree with them. But that's a false barometer of freedom.

The real test is how free are the people, you don't agree with, to disagree with you?

Yep and it is propaganda to say there is a restriction on that here. Why do seemingly intelligent people believe this nonsense. I asked @ChicagoBlue for examples. None forthcoming yet.
