And that’s where society begins to fall apart.

Probably where we are now, where we would rather watch and record it than taking action to actually stop it.

Fear of retribution over moral values, equates to cowardice.

In my time I’ve seen my nan step in to stop a gang attacking another person. I’ve seen my dad step in and confront a group who attacked me as a kid. Also, I’ve seen my mum step in when the police tried to arrest somebody for something they hadn’t done.

Are we a nation of people who, not only stand aside when they see something going wrong, allowing the injustice to be done, but actively encourage it by recording it for a quick ‘Like’ on Facebook?

If you are confirming that this is where our nation is now at, we may as well give up all of what we once held proud.

Might at well be Russian.
We have a working court system to settle these questions in. Trying to intervene physically against the police is dangerous for everyone involved.

I know people don't want to admit it, but the USA is teetering in the brink of capitulation to a dictator without a single shot fired.
He literally said he was going to be a dictator in the election campaign. And they still elected him.

'Effective resistance', yes; violence, no.

The moment citizens start to forcefully push back the regime will just use it as an excuse to impose 'special powers' and bypass normal democratic processes.

Agreed on that final point. If it's not to end very badly either with capitulation or significant violence, a majority of the people will need to face down what is now happening. This requires the people who voted Trump for reasons other than actively wanting a fascist regime, to wake up and smell the coffee and at least lend passive support to any resistance. It also requires an effective form of resistance to converge around. The risk is that the polarisation is too entrenched to allow that to happen quickly. I suspect people will keep their heads down in the hope that midterms will change things and any changes will be abided by; but based on what we've seen so far that's a very risky strategy.

Innocent people have been dying in thousands for decades because of the 2nd ammendment nonesense. And if it was at last supposed to be called upon as a means to prevent state or federal oppression it would be a dud or a catalyst for worse.

What a load of fools half of America is. Brainwashed for years to buy more guns. And brainwashed recently to make America great again. Deplorable as ever.

America was already a great place. Perfect, absolutely not. No place is perfect.
Unabated Capitalism (and the dream of money) has created a bigger divide from the rich and poor.
They have been told that the pursuit of money by any means is ok. Values are rarely mentioned these days.

Poor/low wage Trump supporters are right insofar as they feel let down by successive governments.
Not addressing social needs like low wages and medical care was eventually going to lead to a grifter promising them the earth. (that's not working out eh!)
However, when somebody finally tried to give them a better deal like healthcare (Obama). The reaction was to believe politicians opposed to the changes (and obvious costs), and view these positives changes as somehow bad.

We in Britain are seeing the same things. The young are unable to get on the property ladder. There is a general feeling things are bad. But they are really not. Yes things could be better. But we are doing ok.
You only have to see which countries have problems fighting off illegal entries to see we/them are doing ok.
I don't see many people trying to break into Russia for example!

There has to be a change in wealth balance. A good start is to look at the super wealthy. Then at who controls the media. The rich need to start paying their way. Their wealth is built on the backs of others. When a person doesn't think the odd billion matters much (Musk), it means they already have too much.

Once AI takes over million of jobs worldwide and the aftermath from that then more grievance and anger will only help the facist brigade/s.
