Away fans / tourists in home sections

Good post mate. I reckon sellers on the Face Value pages etc do more to ensure that buyers are Blues than City do. I buy tickets for Supporters Club members and Blues are often generous in letting them go for below face value. I also bought a couple of pairs of tickets off top Blues on here recently for a young couple who had been scammed by touts and family friends whose Mum had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. If City closed down the Face Value ticket pages that could be the final straw for many Blues.
You've no idea what they're doing to check who's buying. Those sites are as bad as the third-party sites, regardless of their intent, plus they're technically committing a criminal offence by facilitating the resale of tickets when not authorised to do so. As is the ticket forum on here of course.

You can't say, on the one hand, that there's too many tourists buying tickets then, on the other hand, support the sites selling unauthorised tickets you think are 'good'.

The club needs to go back to first principles on how it prices, sells and allocates tickets, rather than its constant short-term thinking and seeing everything primarily as a money-making opportunity. That's what happens when you have a former airline CEO running your commercial strategy.

No we shouldn't just let it be at all.

They do have to go hand in hand because the more of these twunts they allow in the less blues they let in, if they don't understand our culture the least they could do is fucking respect it and not turn up with rag shirts scouse scarves and 25 minutes late.
Let it be probably wasn't the right phrase to use, more a case of accepting that this is all part and parcel of being a global club.

Not every tourist is turning up in a United shirt are they? As always, don't let a small minority ruin it for the rest.

This Plymouth match is going to be like one big away match.
And they will jump up if Plymouth score. There won’t be any holding back from the Plymouth fans.

Welcome to the next exciting instalment of away fans in the City home end, brought to you exclusively by Manchester City Football Club.

Yeah I
Cockney rags were and are the biggest scum.out there.
Never understood them, but they were notorious in the 80s especially ( B. Sam, Banana Bob etc )
I knew some old school rags as they'd often stay with my brother as they came out of nick. Always had run ins with either of the Valentine brothers as Binnsy was always getting called out when we met

I have to be honest here mate when the scouse scored yesterday there were probably a full 2 rows of tourists screaming at the goal with their phones out hugging their friends, my main concern apart from them being cunts is how they got the tickets in the first place furthermore how did they get them together?

They are cunts because they are genuinely showing no respect to footballing culture in this country, and I suspect they know it.

On the back of threads re whole rows of non City fans attending games................Sat in my usual seat in the Colin Bell stand and saw the bloke in the picture with an Arsenal hoodie on! Me and my son are getting increasingly fed up of the amount of tourist fans attending games! They rock up at about a minute before Kick Off, stand around blocking your view taking selfies, then can't find their seat! Seems the club are increasingly more interested in revenue than die hard, born and bred View attachment 147809fans that stuck with the club through the dark times!
This basically describes just about every CL game I've ever been to at The Etihad.

I've sat in the same seat in Block 239 since 2003 - am always on all the Cup schemes with my son & daughter, and tbh since the dawn of the CL era at our place in 2011 I've lost count of the number of times random people are sat in our seats. Whenever you point out they are in the wrong one, without fail they look at their tickets and they are in the wrong row, wrong block or wrong seat numbers - or a combination of the 3; it's a miracle these people find the ground tbh.

We've regularly had PSG fans, Real fans, Celtic fans, Feyenoord Fans, Barca fans etc sat in/around us - or the dreaded half/half scarf tourists with selfie sticks, or blokes/women with iPads filming the entire game.

Sadly it's a penalty for being successful. Good teams/clubs attract the tourist fans or the Johnny Come Latelys - add this to the clubs complete lack of giving one iota of a shit about its own fanbase, and bingo....we have what we have.

I'm old enough to remember the days of that mad Super League breakaway when the likes of loyal blues were termed "legacy" fans, the swift reverse from it and the grovelling statements about how important the fans are and we will put them first etc etc, which we know is absolute bollocks.

Many of our loyal fans, who were the first to put their hands in their pockets when the club was up shit creek, got priced/shunted out of the 2nd tier in the East & West Stands and shoved into the 3rd Tier of the South Stand to pave the way for even more corporate seats. At that point all bets were off on the club giving even a passing concern to the fans best interests.

I live within 8 miles of the ground; I don't buy a programme, never visit the club shop on a Matchday and prefer to booze pre/post match in my local boozer or one outside the ground. In short, I'm not the type of fan the club wants anymore.

I don't think they do know it, they don't understand it. The match is just an event they attended, bit like a music gig and they want a selfie to let all their "friends"/"followers" know.

Mate the arguing with City fans dispute that theory, ignorance is no excuse they should at least have a clue and when they are told they are being cunts at least stop being cunts.

Yesterday was shocking and a real eye opener.

Innocent until proven guilty by the law of the land.

Guilty as charged in the eyes of MCFC.

I had issues last season with city, accused of something (falsely) and ended up in court. City banned me until court, had to pay my direct debit and cup scheme tickets still until the hearing.

I was found not guilty, as I did nothing wrong but City did not give a shit, they banned me straight away and couldn't give a toss. My ban was instantly lifted and they refunded me the tickets I missed out on. Nowhere near enough for the shit I went through but the club who demands to be seen as innocent until proven guilty, treats us as guilty before any fair trial. If it wasn't for my child who still wanted to attend I would have sacked it off at that point

Didn't know where to post this but what was the thinking of blocking the exits at south stand lower (around 118) and bottle necked thousands of fans outside of one small exit further down?

I know what checks I've done before selling a ticket including requesting pics of buyers in City gear and them having a Citizens number / history. Compare that with City requesting sometimes 1 previous game history or no games in corporate / hospitality. City get several free hours work off me every week trying to expand the fanbase. Maybe they could listen to my views in return.

I am not in the anti-tourist lobby although we need to keep the essence of what makes us a great Manchester Club. In fact I am nervous about the rhetoric on this forum in recent months. I've no big interest in politics but I recall warning that the Brexit thread on here was getting out of hand but it was only mirroring what a lot of people thought in the Country. By coincidence the following week Jo Cox was murdered and my views were no longer alarmist. Someone is going to get very seriously hurt in the Etihad if City continue to favour bloggers over local fans and the mood amongst our fanbase reflects the current political direction in the Country.

FWIW, It was good for the 1894 video recently released to be balanced about the breadth of our fanbase.

In some ways, it was a shame that the marketing plan in the early days of the Sheikh's takeover, including 1880 and Anna Connell was superseded because there seemed a commitment to City's heritage (albeit that included some mythology).

Yes I agree with you on ticket prices and taking a longer term view. Likewise I have not heard a good argument against City recreating the Junior Blues.

Soriano and Danny Wilson are doing the job they are expected to. It's alienating the core fanbase though. People who lobbied our Execs to have unlimited use of the Ticket Exchange have also endorsed excessive ticket pricing.

I've been a season ticket holder for over 40 years. Never thrown a punch, never chucked a missile, lit a pyro, not indulged in racist or tragedy chanting (victims has no connection to any tragedy). I'm a noisy cantankerous old bastard granted, and I can ruffle a few feathers simply because I dont suffer fools, but I love my Club.

I am currently banned by the Club for an alleged incident with an over-zealous steward at Brentford in January. I was given a choice by the arresting officer, a trip down to Feltham nick for a few hours, or the incident could be treated as a Section 14 Football Related Incident. By going the Section 14 route I could avoid the trip to Feltham and get on my way. The case would then be dealt with at Court. I chose Section 14, which unbeknown to me at the time, automatically brings GMP & MCFC into play.

By 9am next day I received an email from the Club suspending my SC with immediate effect and told that I could not transfer, exchange or donate my seat. I can continue to pay for my seat but cannot use it, pending the outcome at Court.

The letter from City states "this ban is not an assumption of guilt". Well City, yes it fucking is, and guess what, you can now sell on my seat to any scouse, rag or tarquin who has the money to buy it, whilst still taking my DD payments.

I have no set Court date, no contact from The Met and cannot watch my team home or away.

Meanwhile, the Club take the opportunity to make money out of a longstanding supporters misfortune.

Up the fucking Blues...but fuck you isn't very far down the road.
Also blue they won't sell your ticket on. Mine remained empty, I made sure friends checked it each game because I accused them of wanting to sell on.

Football has moved on from what it was regarding fans/supporters,and a good percentage are tourists now,who maybe don’t support one team but 2 or 3..some see taking in a game like visiting attractions around the country be it museums, cathedrals,Buckingham palace etc,it’s the way it is now ..
Yep I wish they would fuck off and watch something else..like American football.
All fuck off and watch that shite.
