The "which famous person died today" thread

Jam drummer Rick Buckler gone as well
That's really bad news, The Jam were my favourite group in the late 70s/ early 80s.
I believe that Bruce Foxton has been ill recently, and has had to cancel several gigs as he was too unwell to continue.
R.I.P Rick.
You will be sadly missed.

Where Is The Love is one of my favourite songs,a great duet by Roberta and Donny Hathaway.
The crazy thing is that Roberta has had a long life, but if I remember correctly Donny committed suicide in 1979 by jumping from the window of a hotel room.

Jerry Butler, ex of The Impressions with Curtis Mayfield. He then had a solo career and went on to become a leading political figure in Chicago.
Saw that over the weekend but it hadn't been confirmed. I bought a singles compilation of his a few years ago. What a voice. RIP sir.
Gwen McCrae also left last couple of days. Played a best of cd through last night. Very under rated in my opinion.

That was such a brilliant duet.

I've just posted in the Northern Soul thread that Chris Jasper of the Isley Brothers has passed away aged 73.
He was an important song writer for the group in the 70s and 80s , and one of the songs he wrote was Caravan Of Love , which The Housemartins later did as an acappello version in 1986.
RIP Chris Jasper.
