Russian invasion of Ukraine

The US have give Ukraine $65.9 billion in military aid.
Now Trump wants $500 billion worth of rare earth materials in return.
The US voted against Russians leaving occupied land, which covers their back,or Trumps and Musks back,IMO.
Ukraine sign the deal, the US/Trump and Musk get a big slice.
Ukraine dont sign and the US strike a deal with Russia to mine the occupied territory, giving Trump and Musk a big slice.
No other reason for the US to vote against...IMO.

Slava Ukraini.
If that happens would the USA militarily protect its assets in Russia?

As I said, no problem about military spending but trump is acting like an old style robber baron demanding mineral rights and sucking up to Putin. Unfortunately, he can no longer be considered the leader of the free world. With him it’s USA and fuck everyone else
Trump is like the guy watching a women being raped.
Just as she thinks he is coming to her aid, she sees him unzipping his flies...

I had a good and productive meeting with Spain’s Prime Minister
@sanchezcastejon
.Our discussion focused on joint efforts to achieve real peace, security guarantees, defense needs, and cooperation with Spanish companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
I thank the people of Spain and the government for providing a new military aid package—1 billion euros this year—which includes exactly what we need to strengthen the front line: armored vehicles, missiles, and shells.
We are also preparing to open the “Unity Center” to support Ukrainians in Spain, and we are working on signing the relevant agreement.Thank you for this important step in supporting our people

Surprising Trump let Macron contradict him without a later humiliation.

Let's see how it goes with Starmer.

Quick question mate, why has the bridge not been blown up especially now?

It’s possible there is an agreement not to target specific infrastructure on both sides ie power grid/stations in Ukraine in return for leaving the bridge intact. Only my guess, though.

It’s just an awful choice for Ukrainians to make, none of the politicians calling Trump a liar or calling his blackmail out.

Actually I guess it will be left to Boris Johnson who just called Trump out on TV and said “what Washington is saying is just not true”

I have no idea mate.
Ukraine have the means to destroy it,but choose not to.
There has to be a reason for it....fuck knows what.

Heroyam Slava.
Politics (liars).

They tell us nobody speaks, but the actions (or lack of actions), suggest there's plenty of speaking behind the scenes, and probably has been since moscow didn't win the 3 day war.

Putin now claims that Russia has more rare earth minerals than Ukraine.
Putin also says "Moscow is ready to offer them to interested partners"
That would be Elon and Donald then.

Slava Ukraini.
In the occupied territories no doubt ………..tonight TV said Greenland has those rare earth minerals as well.

My thoughts are that the ruSSians keep an awful lot of air defence there to protect it and Ukraine would rather it be there than somewhere else

Upon reflection I have to make further representations on the overall point you raised here. Given it was my post you quoted to make your statement.

I have moved my position hugely on this issue. As you will be aware given how much you lurk in this thread.

I have done this in the hope it will all end.

I’ve acknowledged that Ukraine will have to give up territory and cannot join NATO for the foreseeable. Just that it needs protecting from further aggression from Russia. And for that to mean something this time.

Which part of that last paragraph do you disagree with?

Agreed, there will be compromise and concessions. Some of it may stick in the throat, but if they are allied to genuine security guarantees then so be it, and if the Ukrainians can live with it then it’s nobody else’s concern.
