PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I’d say zero chance anyone in the media knows the verdict beyond a steer of confidence from either side, which really tells us very little.

This is arguably the biggest story in Premier League history - no media outlet is sitting on that if they have a concrete view of the decision.
That sounds logical. I was just listening to my gut, though I would argue a ruling in City's favour is not what the media want to hear and any delay in announcing it gives them a stay of execution to milk the last drop of anti-City sentiment out of the old paradigm before they revise their narrative. They have all the future to tell us about the outcome.

Ok.

The BBC are inviting resolute blues to comment on the verdict, to show them celebrating and feeling vindicated. Aye, sure, ok.

They’re lining up contacts to interview on both “sides” so they can move quickly as soon as the biggest story in premier league history breaks.

It’s just sensible journalism.

Nothing to see.

Ughhh...just lock the thread until the official announcement of the verdict...

Totally disagree.

Big Steve has been consistent, defiant, and exactly as you say, defended the club to the hilt. I applaud it btw, for absolute clarity. He has continuously stated, he trusts the club, the owners, the chairman, he believes we have done nothing wrong.

Do you REALLY think, the fucking BBC (maybe harsh on ITV to bracket them with that) or other media outlets, if they thought the verdict was in our favour, would be inviting him (or any such loyal blue) along for a chance to show his faith has been merited, or to show his relief, or that he can now look forward to putting this behind us slowly etc?

Not a fucking chance.

If he has been invited (I don't doubt what he says), imo it is to be used in a 'look at this poor die-hard City fan' way. To question if he feels 'betrayed', if he feels his trust was misplaced, what he thinks of the owners now, if the achievements feel tainted etc etc. Imo, sorry, it can only be a fucking set-up and nothing else. I just don't trust those cunts one bit for anything past that.

That's exactly how the neville carrager skybet shows he has been on have previously framed it too btw, and I think the bbc would jump at that angle if it was bad news for us. And ignore what Steve or City fans might think, if it were good news.

That's my own take, but I frimly believe that.
Na mate, it won't be a case he goes on the programme to find out the result, it will already be public so if it is a "hit piece" he could simply not go when the time comes around.

I suspect they are lining up people from both sides of the argument and when the verdict drops they will select those available who are most suitable depending on what way the cookie has crumbled.

Anyone see ‘we are the south stand’ with Big Steve?
He said he’d had an email off ITV and the BBC asking him if he’d be interested in coming on a show to discuss the verdict on the 115 charges.
He said he sent a reply back saying this is abit random and asked when’s the verdict?
He was told imminent.
Anyway here it is if anyone’s interested.
Roughly 36.30 onwards, only talks about it for a minute or two.

Sounds legit tbh, I would expect Esteemed Kompany / @twosips to have got an invite too?

Certainly begs the question why no invitation to put City point of view when charges made.
A couple of years of one sided statements in the media cannot be rectified by one invitation.

Incidentally, perhaps both bbc and itv want to show how even handed they have been now the reality is setting in.

They’d (if the rumour is even true) want big Steve on purely because he’s good tv. He speaks his mind and is confident doing it.

You’re overthinking it @Coatigan

It is not like I thought it would be a what's behind door no.2 moment reveal.

They are likely lining people up ahead sure, but I'm sorry I doubt it is balance they are after. It will only be shown if it can be framed to let the thing run on and on. Time will tell.

Unlike you to flap son.
I am not flapping, people are reading more into it than needed.

But I do stand by that. If asked, any such blue that gets put up on the screen at any time, it will be loaded, and it will be in a negative context.

I cant see the BBC, ITV, Sky, all knowing what the verdict is when no one else does, and without leaking it! This is just getting prepared for whatever happens.

It would be good for our youtubers to be prepared for any narrative they push forward. IE If there is a charge of non cooperation the media will be keen to press home how guilty we are. The media companies will have had their legal staff pouring over all the details and will highlight something poisonous. I’d even say it would be good for our owners to brief the youtubers and podcasters we have beforehand even to make sure we KNOW what the outcome is. (All academical if we have totally lost the case though.

The APT stuff and them claiming a victory really showed their true colours. Twats.

Maybe you are underthinking it ;).

Listen, all fair. I said what I had to say, happy with the responses that disagree.

Doesn't change what I think, that would take years of media behaviour otherwise to budge.

While we are at it, if this does go against us, Stefan may want to prepare himself for getting all his historic quotes on the seriousness of the charges thrown right back in his face by the same media that asked for them in the first place, and he'll fine well know it.

I was ready to drop it a couple pages back, but keep getting drawn back in by some of the responses.

Not much more to see here.
