TBH I'm not a fan of the hotel.

But I won't dwell on it again.(and again, and again......)

The hotel isn't going to change now. We have to accept that. We're best moving on from the hotel subject and instead concentrate on all the positives the stand and hotel will bring to the fans and the club.

It's been a really good week construction wise on the stand.

I'm going down on Sunday to take some pictures.

No, the cable net forms a complete tension ring, so you can't just remove a chunk. It's there to stay until or if they replace E & W stand roofs.

He is kind of right.

If you transferred each of the east and west roofs 'solely' onto the piers on their respectice sides, the entire ring could be done away with. As currently the south and north stands are suppirted on their own structures and the lower cable only ties the east and west.

Thanks @Coatigan that’s what I was suggesting.

Seems like a sensible option if there was any intention to expand the East stand at some point.

How they'd actually do that, without shutting large portions off, would be an undertaking in itself. But in theory yeah, there is logic in it.

I haven’t seen a beautiful hotel built this century in the UK. It might look better when finished, so prepared to wait before slagging it off.

Hotels are designed so they can be built cheaply. And are functional. When you see a
new Premier Inn and Travel Lodge, that much is obvious.

An example.

A 276-key hotel within the £1bn MIX Manchester campus has been given the green light.

Designed by 5plus Architects, the scheme is one of several hotels within the vicinity. The Tribe Hotel is operational, while Dakota’s second Manchester offering is under construction.

Whitbread, which owns the Premier Inn brand, announced its intention to open its largest ever Northern hotel at Manchester Airport last year.
