I may be reading too much into it ..... but, it's no use putting champagne on ice unless it's imminent. Let's be generous and say 2 hours for the ice to melt and another hour for the bubbly to come up to room temperature - at which point the exercise was useless. Mine went last year too - and whilst you never get used to not seeing him and having him there to talk to, it does start to feel a touch easier as the acute loss gets less jarring.
