I wonder how much better off he’d be in a team that doesn’t have to play against packed defences. That’s more of a dig towards our slow build up than it is our opponents. At one point yesterday when he was on the ball, he had five Brighton close to the area he was in and no City players were in that same area.

You dont have to wonder, we saw it yesterday. He had numerous occasions where he beat the full back and had 40 yards of open field ahead of him and delivered absolutely nothing.

I get the complaints about him, but I think it's also important to note that he's only 22. He's on a team that has numerous other issues, and for a young player, that has an impact when you see the team leaders beginning to drop their heads and lose confidence.

I think moving on him this summer would be premature because we have seen the talent and we have seen how he can fit in this team, but we need to get more runners into the box around him. His end product does need a lot of work, but the talent is there.

Frustrates me when he skins a defender only to stop, and has to then beat him again. Needs to play the ball earlier once he’s away.

Often he stops coz there are zero blue shirts in the box

It is funny because everybody liked this kind of winger over a Grealish because it is exciting but as we have seen, has little end product. Our best ever season involved wingers being controlled and disciplined.....

I quite like Doks but the end product needs to come in, we need to help him by being in the box and ready too. We just look dysfunctional all round

It has nothing to do with the type of wingers we had. Put Doku on those teams and he'd have killed

Novelty footballer of the type I'd expect United to sign, we won't be looking like a serious Pep side again with him playing. Honestly think keeping Sergi Gomez as a left winger would have been a better bet. Comparisons with Saint-Maximin and Traore very harsh on those players.

I know for a fact that there were plays where he was the only player on the lerr side with 5-6 Brighton players next to him and everyone else either on the right side of the field or just behind him far away. He is always so isolated it’s not even funny and I don’t know how people don’t realize that

He is quite similar to Adama Traore and he hasnt improved over his career. Let´s hope Doku does ,but to be a world class winger that improvement must be pretty big.

Let's hope so, but I can't think of any top class winger who plays the game the way he does.

Most of the top class wingers have incredible technical ability; the ones like Doku tend to play for the mid/lower table teams, and that's just a matter of fact I'm not trying to dig him out any further.

I much prefer Doku to someone like Sane who had amazing stats and helped us win trophies but all those fans can’t be wrong about his attitude.we should be grateful Doku has such amazing body language. Doesn’t matter that Sane was streets ahead ant same age Leroy didn’t griddy either.

Not sure why the criticism of Doku. If you pop into the Jack Grealish thread it’s made pretty clear our wingers are not supposed to score or assist. Based on that he is doing a half decent job.

By the way these players that are apparently levels above Doku. Adama Traore averages a goal every 682 mins, ASM is marginally better at 631.

Doku is a goal 384 minutes.

After almost two complete seasons in our side, Doku is pretty much the same player we signed two years ago. Zero improvement.

Doku is quick, able to beat almost any defender on the dribble and gets into very dangerous spots on a consistent basis. From there - his end product is frankly awful. He simply cannot produce a consistent shot on goal or a consistent pass to one of our teammates.

It's possible that Doku could magically improve his scoring/assisting stats - but after 2 years this seems unlikely.

It had nothing to do with the type of wingers we had? It was the perfect storm of it all blending perfectly. Them wingers being a massive part of it. I am not saying that is now the answer here, because it probably isn't, but it was then.

Is he dangerous though?

For me attacking players are dangerous when they're banging in goals and setting loads up. If we're talking end product then you'd have to say that he's currently below average, which is concerning when we don't want average, we want top class.

No doubt he's a great one on one dribbler but it means absolutely nothing if there's rarely anything at the end of it.

Savinho only has 2 goals overall as well. That's 5 goals combined all season from our 2 most played wide players - that's absolutely horrific and miles below even the bare minimum. It's killing us as an attacking threat tbh.
