11 | Jeremy Doku - 2024/25

The issue we have is we have lost Alvarez, Mahrez, Sterling and Jesus in a couple of years
We didn't lose them.
You might lose your car keys, your wallet or you're phone.

We sold these players for varying reasons. When you sell your car, you trade it in for a more better and more efficient and modern model.
What we did is sell our car and decide to take the bus

looks far away to become Mahrez, Sterling type winger for us.

his best period was his first 2.5 months last season, arrived with speed, trickery, few goals early on and some assists. had clear areas to improve on like stamina, pressing, tracking back, dont think he improved in any of this. and most of all had to kick on in his second season which is also not happening.

3 goals, 8 assists last year in PL, not bad for a debut season as a winger, stats bit strange as 4 of those assist were all in one game so only assisted a goal in 5 games of 38, looking at the detailed stats only 1 of this 11 G+A was against top6 side an assist vs Aston Villa last year in the league.

this year he is on 2+2 in the league, not much vs the upper side clubs but Forest is now up there of course. but when you look at games like dippers, rags, Chelsea, Arse, Newcastle, Tottenham, Doku wont get a goal or assist if he plays at all.

having said that a much more expensive and experienced Grealish is on 0 goals + 1 assist in the league, compared to that Doku is very much dangerous and effective in G+A lol.

just wondering can we really afford all these low output wingers when rivals almost all have high output wingers scoring and helping their team every weak, and due to the reason that our other source of goals are also fucking dry like Foden, Alvarez, Rodri shared lot of goals in PL and now one is out for season, one we sold without replacement, and Foden is in dog shit form. add to that that we play numerous 90mins even getting a proper ball to Haaland is a struggle, where our winger often dont even try that...

I could see the writing on the wall when he started losing possession in dangerous places in the second half. (Hojland missed that great chance from one of his fuck ups.) Nunes was also struggling and there were some warning signs way before Pep made the subs. The obvious sub for me was Doku off and Stones on with Gvardiol moving to LB and Nunes moving to left wing.

Unfortunately the scouting is tremendously upsetting to say the least
What kills me is all the angry clappers saying how were we to know Palmer, Porro, Lavia, Rogers. Gittens, and on and on would become first rate players in the Prem and across Europe. That's the whole fucking point. Perpetual clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern don't make that many "mistakes". Some of those guys should be on the pitch for us now instead of some of the old tired injury prone legs we have out there now (as well as youngsters from other clubs who can't shine the boots of the lads we let go). That's if our succession planning had remained mint and uncompromising. It 100% did not.
If we hadn't been so dominant on the pitch we would have gotten massacred for not replacing Gundo. Not replacing Mahrez. Not replacing Alvarez. Not signing adequate back up for Rodri. Signing an absolute waste of a player (for us) in Phillips. Selling off Palmer. Begging Walker to stay 3 more years.
Go ahead and slam me if any of you would like but I'm just asking honest questions among fellow Blues. Someone tell me where I'm wrong. I'm not an ingrate or entitled. I'm speaking to what we are seeing right now without trying to put it off on bad luck or "bound" to happen". In the 18 years prior to 2011 I could have NEVER imagined City becoming what it became. But we did! No one outside our fan base is chatting shit to me I can assure everyone of that.
We have had a tremendous, historic run under Pep, but we failed to do what was necessary to remain at that level. People can ingest all the copium in the world it's not going to paper over the amount of decay we now find ourselves in. Now it's going to take a boatload of money and ingenuity to get us back to our best self.
Hopefully we can get back to some level of competence sooner rather than later. If not, it is what it is.

I get worried posting as someone from Belgium will stick up for him or someone from Croatia will stick up for Gvardiol
Locals will stick up for Foden but at the end of the day a lot of these ayers aren't performing

Nearly every goal we are conceding is an embarrassment
If we conceded a few wonder goals I wouldn't mind but the goals conceded in midweek and against the rags are all schoolboy errors
Comical. How about the circus against Feyenoord...

We can't, no. It's costing us big time. Raz and Riyad would cop it from the supporters the whole way through their time here, but they're levels above what we have now.
